PT-2 “The Enabling Scripture” (2 Timothy 3:17)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 6/18/2025 9:57 AM

My Worship Time                                                              Focus:  PT-2 “The Enabling Scripture”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                 Reference:  2 Timothy 3:17

Message of the verse:  “that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”

I begin with a quotation from John MacArthur’s commentary:  “equipped for every good work could be paraphrased ‘enabled to meet all demands of righteousness.’  By his life he will affirm the power of the Word to lead men to salvation and to equip them for righteous living and for faithful service to the Lord.  When the man of God is himself equipped by the Word, he can then equip the believers under his care.  Just as ‘we are [the Lord’s] workmanship,’ Paul explains, we also should be doing His work.  We are ‘created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them’ (Eph 2:10).  Christ says to all those who belong to Him what He said to the Twelve:  ‘We must work the works of Him who sent Me, as long as it is day; night is coming, when no man can work’ (John 9:4).”

I have mentioned in other Spiritual Diaries that I have written and posted onto my blogs that the verse above (Ephesians 2:10) has spoken to me in that I believe that as the Bible says that in eternity past that God has given each true believer in Him has certain things (ministries) to do for the cause of Christ, and I truly believe that the writing of my Spiritual Diaries, and then after I have written many of them I was led by the Lord to put them onto my blogs.  I have mentioned that I begin to do this when my wife and I were living in Kauai, Hawaii that the Lord ten made it clear to me to put them onto these blogs.  I did not realize that I began two blogs, but when I found out I began to put my older Spiritual Diaries onto the second blog and the ones I write daily onto the first blog.  This too I believe was in the Lord’s will as many of the older ones have been looked at over the years that I began to put them on the internet.  I still desire to do this even though I am getting older, and at this time I am using more quotations on my Spiritual Diaries than when I was younger, but the things that I quote, mostly from Dr. Warren Wiersbe, and John MacArthur are very meaningful to me and it is my prayer that it is meaningful to those who read them.

MacArthur goes on to write “Whether our purpose is to lead men and women to saving faith in Jesus Christ, to teach God’s truth to believer, to refute error in the church, to correct and rebuild erring believers, or to train believers to live righteously, our supreme and sufficient resource is God’s Word.  It not only gives us the information to teach but also shapes us into living examples of that truth.”  I think that the list of things that MacArthur has written above are the reasons that I study the Word of God each day in order to through the power of the Holy Spirit get what I have been taught and have learned to people around the world through the blogs that I write.  I have to say that this is very exciting to me, and although like most believers there are hills and valleys in my walk with the Lord I still continue to write what I am writing to bring glory to the Lord Jesus Christ who saved me when I was almost 27 years old.  To God be the all the glory.

“One cannot help wondering why so many evangelical pastors of our day, like many Christians throughout history, have lost sight of that foundational truth.  Every church, everywhere and in ever time, should be totally committed to preaching, teaching, and implementing the Word, thereby pleasing and exalting the gracious and sovereign God who has revealed it.

“Through the convincing and convicting power of the Holy Spirit, Scripture is God’s own provision for every spiritual truth and moral principle that men need to be saved, to be equipped to live righteously in this present life and to hear one day in the life to come. ‘Well done, good and faithful slave,…enter into the joy of your Master’ (Matt. 25:21).”

Spiritual Meaning for my Life Today:  I am thankful for the words that John MacArthur has written on this very important verse found in 2 Timothy as many of those things he has written about are things that I try to do each day in porting my Spiritual Diaries onto the internet through my two blogs.  It is a great joy to me to “Study to show yourself approved to God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).

My Steps of Faith for Today:  I desire to continue do the things that the Lord has called me to do in eternity past, so that I can bring glory to the Lord.
