Concluding Introduction to Nahum

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 12/10/2025 9:52 AM

“FINISHING THE INTRODUCTION TO NAHUM

This morning I want to finish up the introduction to the book of Nahum and will continue to quote from John MacArthur’s commentary which will include what the purpose of this book is and then give the outline of the book as I close this SD out.

PURPOSE

“As a sequel to the book of Jonah, Nahum is an oracle of judgment against Nineveh, a city that had once in the past received God’s mercy.  Nahum’s prophecy serves both as an exhortation to evildoers never to presume on the Lord’s patience, and also as an encouragement to God’s people to rest in His love and care for them.  By demonstrating the infallible nature of divine prophecy, Nahum’s message provided hope to Israel and all God’s people, reminding them that the Lord will keep His promises precisely as He has revealed them, both to preserve the righteous and to punish the wicked.”

This concludes all of John MacArthur’s introduction to the book of Nahum, and so tomorrow morning, Lord willing, I will begin to look at “Who God Is” from Hahum 1:1-8).

I thought that it is a bit strange that this introduction began with number nine, but  then I went back to the introduction to Jonah which was the first book of the Bible that begins MacArthur’s commentary “Jonah & Nahum,” and he left his outline with the number eight, so this was just the conclusion to his introduction.

Spiritual Meaning for my Life Today:  God’s judgements are all done in perfection because God is perfect and all He does is perfect.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  Knowing that all the Lord does is perfect, it is my desire to follow His teachings in order to do the works that He has for me to do in order to bring glory to Him.
