SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 10/6/2020 9:58 AM
My Worship Time Focus:
Manifest Your Sonship
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: Matthew 5:45
Message of the verse: “45 in order that you may be sons of your Father
who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the
good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”
If
we love our enemies and pray for those who are persecuting us then we show that
we are “sons of [our] Father in heaven.”
MacArthur writes “The aorist tense of genesthe (maybe) indicates a once and for all established
fact. God Himself is love, and the
greatest evidence of our divine sonship through Jesus Christ is our love. ‘By this all men will know that you are My
disciples, if you have love for one another’ (John 13:35. ‘God is love, and the one who abides in love
abides in God, and God abides in him’ (1 John 4:16). In fact, ‘If someone says, ‘I love God,’ and
hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom
he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen’ (v. 20).”
When
we love as God loves we realize that this does not make us sons of God, but this
shows that a person already belongs to God.
When a life reflects God’s nature, and His nature is love, then it
proves that life now possesses His nature by the new birth.
I
suppose that what the world looks at when they are looking at Christians is looking
at something to criticize them for and one of the things that they will usually
look at is our love, but because they don’t understand the Gospel what they
criticize us for may not be truthful.
When
a believer is loving like they are taught in the Word of God then even if a
person who sees them and know nothing about the Gospel, or Jesus will be able
to see that there is something in that comes from a divine power.
“Those
who are God’s children should show impartial love and care similar to what God
shows. ‘He causes His sun to rise on the
evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.’ Those blessings are given without respect to
merit or deserving. If they were, no one
would receive them. In what theologians
traditionally have called common grace, God is indiscriminate in His
benevolence. His divine love and
providence in some forms benefit everyone, even those who rebel against Him or
deny His existence.”
As
we come to the conclusion of the Spiritual Diary we want to look at Psalm
145:15-16 “The eyes of all look to Thee, and Thou dost give them their food in
due time. Thou dost open Thy hand, and
dost satisfy the desire of every living thing.”
MacArthur adds “There is no good thing—physical, intellectual,
emotional, moral, spiritual, or of any other sort—that anyone possesses or
experience that does not come from the hand of God. If God does that for everyone, His children
should reflect the same generosity.”
Spiritual meaning for my life today: Lord change my heart today, may it be like
Yours and may my life bring glory to Your name.
My Steps of Faith for Today: Continue to learn and continue to trust in
the Lord to cause me to grow so that I can love as He loves.
