“PT-1 Salvation's ‘Substance” (2 Peter 1:2)

EVENING SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 9/26/2025 8:51 PM

My Worship Time                                                                   Focus: “PT-1 Salvation's ‘Substance”

Bible Reading and Meditation                                                                     Reference: 2 Peter 1-2

Message of the verse:  “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;”

Well we finally got through the first verse, and now it is time to begin looking at the second verse from 2 Peter, and I know this will not take us so long to get through it.

Peter is reminding his readers in this second verse of this familiar salutation, that true saints live in the realm of grace and peace, as the apostle Paul taught the Roman Christians:  “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God” (Rom. 5:1-2).  It is God’s desire for the substance of salvation grace and peace to be multiplied, to come in unending, abundant streams to His children.  Similar statements fill the epistles such as in 1 Cor. 1:3; 2 Cor. 1:2; Gal. 1:3; and Eph. 1:2.  MacArthur explains “Peace (charis) is God’s free, unmerited favor toward sinners, which grants those who believe in the gospel complete forgiveness forever through the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 3:24; Eph. 1:7; Titus 3:7),  Peace (eirene) with God and from Him in all life’s circumstances is the effect of grace (Eph. 2:14-15; Col. 1:20), flowing out of the forgiveness God has given to all the elect (cf. Ps.85:8; Isa. 26:12; 2 Thess. 3:16).  Grace upon grace (John 1:16) is an expression that defines the boundless flow of divine favor, while peace comes with such fullness that it is divine and beyond human understanding (John 14:27; Phil. 4:7).  Believers receive surpassing grace for every sin (Ps. 84:11; Acts 4:33; 2 Cor. 9:8; 12:9; Heb. 4:16) and abundant peace for every trial (John 14:27; 16:33).”

I have to say that this last sentence has meant a lot to me in that as I have mentioned in many of my recent SD’s that my wife is not being treated for cancer and the truth is that we both need abundant peace for this great trial we are going through praying every day and evening for direction from the Lord to be able to fight this terrible disease that many people in our country are fighting.  If there is one thing that I truly hate it is cancer, and truly look forward to receiving my new body after the rapture of the church happens, which I hope and pray will be very soon.  As I look around this world, which seems to getting smaller all of the time because of the new technology that we are experiencing, which in some ways is really good, and in some ways very sinful.  I can write my Spiritual Diaries each and every day and they can be sent around the world where people in many countries can read them, and it is my prayer that believers will grow in the Lord and no-believers will understand that they are sinners and need the Savior in order for them to be saved, and all of this is good.  However there is things that also go around the world that are very sinful and things that are harmful to those who read or look at the pictures that go along with sinfulness.  At any rate I believe that the Lord has called me to continue to write my Spiritual Diaries and for me to do the best job that I can and then allow the Holy Spirit of God to get them to the people who need them, and that is what I pray about each day.

Looks like we should finish looking at this short, but very important 2nd verse in 2 Peter 1.
