SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 9/01/2025 9:55 AM
My Worship Time Focus: “Purpose”
Now I am still looking at the introduction to John MacArthur’s commentary on the book of Jonah, and there are two more parts to look at, “The Purpose,” and “The Outline,” and so I will quote those in this morning’s Spiritual Diary, which means that I can then begin to look at this short book from the Old Testament that has much meaning in, and the Lord Jesus Christ mentioned this book while He was ministering on the earth 2000 years ago.
PURPOSE
“This book of Jonah demonstrates that Yahweh is the Savior of both Jews and Gentiles. The Lord sent His servant not only to bring a message to Nineveh but also to serve as a message to His own people. Through Jonah, God declared that He was the sovereign prerogative to show compassion on whomever He wishes, and that He lavishes His grace freely upon those who acknowledge their unworthiness, repent of their sin, and believe in Him. The wondrous grace that God revealed through the ministry of Jonah ultimately culminates in the One who fulfilled the sign of Jonah and accomplished salvation for all who repent and believe in Him.”
I would have to say that this is not only the purpose of the book of Jonah, but of all of the Word of God, so please re-read the above paragraph and learn how you too can become a true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, the only way to get to heaven.

Spiritual Meaning for my Life Today: I suppose that every since becoming a believer and reading and studying this little book of Jonah that I have been hard on Jonah because of his unwillingness to go to Nineveh and give out the gospel to those very difficult people who were very, very sinful. Now I would give out the gospel to anyone that the Lord brings onto my path, as that is not the issue for me. I suppose that at times in my life I have become prejudice toward certain people groups, but for the most part the Lord has cared for that in my life.
My Steps of Faith for Today: I trust the Lord to use me in giving out the gospel among other things in these Spiritual Diaries that I write.
