Death is Unavoidable PT-2 (Ecclesiastes 9:3)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 5/27/2013 8:12 PM
My Worship Time                                                                  Focus:  Death is Unavoidable PT-2
Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  Ecclesiastes 9:3-
Message of the verses:  Just a reminder of how we ended up with yesterday’s SD when Dr. Wiersbe points out that “Solomon pointed out three possible responses that people make to the ever-present fear of death.”
Escape (9:3):  “3 This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that there is one fate for all men. Furthermore, the hearts of the sons of men are full of evil and insanity is in their hearts throughout their lives. Afterwards they go to the dead.”
Solomon says in this verse that the hearts of the sons of men are full of evil and insanity is in their hearts throughout their lives.  The word that is translated “insanity” mans madness and so I would not be so quick to say that all men are insane.  All men are born with a sin nature, and nature that only wants to do wrong, but when a person is born from above they receive a new nature that always wants to do right, so when a believer yields to the old nature they will not do things that are pleasing to the Lord.
Solomon also has some of his favorite words in this verse “under the sun” are the words that I am speaking about, and this means things that happen on this earth.  He then talks about the fate of all people who are living under the sun, and that is death.  We have talked about this in a previous SD, and so I won’t go over all of what we already went over.  The subject of death can bring out the worst in people, especially those who do not know the Lord as their personal Savior.  Dr. Wiersbe quotes a man named Joseph Bayly who wrote a book entitled “Last Thing We Talk About,” and I suppose that many people have had this on their minds when they are around a loved one who is ready to face death.  I had to do this almost a year ago as my mother was about to die.  There were five of us around her praying when she died and my sister said that she looked up right before our mother died and she had a smile on her face, and knowing that made me very happy.
This will be a short SD due to the fact that I am not feeling well today.
Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Core Ten boon, who was a lady who lived through the concentration camps of WWII told a story in her book which she called “The Hiding Place” as they all in her family were facing death.  Her father asked Core when she got the ticket to ride on the train, to which she replied “when I board the train.”
My Steps of Faith for Today:  Trust the Lord to give me the wisdom to make a decision that will bring glory to Him over the illnesses that I have been having.
Answer to yesterday’s Bible Question:  “Peter.”
Today’s Bible Question:  “What classification is given to the last seven letters in the New Testament?”
Answer in tomorrow’s SD.
