SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 10/15/2025 9:33 AM
My Worship Time Focus: PT-1 “God’s Hand of Compassion”
Bible Reading and Meditation Reference: Jonah 2:10
Message of the verses: “Then Yahweh spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah up onto the dry land” (2:10).
Well we finally got to the part where Jonah is not on the water or in the fish as the fish vomited Jonah back onto dry land. We see that this was all done because God spoke to the fish, and whenever God speaks to animals it seems to me that they never argue with Him, but just obey what He wants them to do. I think about Balaam’s donkey who did what God wanted her to do, and Balaam began to argue with the donkey like it talked with him all the time, but my point is that the donkey did what God wanted her to do without arguing with God like humans do.
Now as the covenant-keeping God, Yahweh demonstrated His faithfulness, even when Jonah was unfaithful (Jonah 1:3). Now accordingly, the Lord hurled a storm to draw the sailors to Himself as seen in Jonah 1:4, 14, then sent a fish to deliver His wayward prophet (1:17; 2:6), and then gave heed to Jonah’s prayer from the depths of the sea (2:1). Now having heard the prophet’s penitent plea, Yahweh continued His faithful work in the life of His servant.
Now to deliver Jonah to where He wanted him, Yahweh spoke to the fish, further displaying His control over every living thing. In the same way that God spoke and created as seen in Genesis 1:20-21; also seen in Psalm 148:1-5 “Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens; Praise Him in the heights! 2 Praise Him, all His angels; Praise Him, all His hosts! 3 Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him, all stars of light! 4 Praise Him, highest heavens, And the waters that are above the heavens! 5 Let them praise the name of the LORD, For He commanded and they were created.” Now we can see from these verses that His speech to the fish demonstrated His absolute mastery over all creation (cf. Job 39:1-30; Ps. 104:21). Just as Jonah spoke his prayer to Yahweh in Jonah 2:2, so God in turn spoke to the sea creature, showing that he heard and accepted Johan’s supplication. How well the prophet learned his lesson was yet to be seen, but God’s response indicated that Jonah’s contrition was genuine and that He submitted himself to the Lord’s directive.
Today’s SD will be a rather shortened one as I have decided to make this last section in MacArthur’s commentary from his fourth chapter into two parts. I think that this is one of the books of the Bible that demonstrates God’s awesome power, power over his creation that He created seen in the first two chapters of Genesis. It is worth mentioning again that God made everything perfect when it was created, but then the first sin took place when Lucifer, who was the Lord Jesus Christ’s angel went against the Lord, and then when God created man Lucifer who then is better known as Satan caused the women to sin, and then she caused her husband to sin and then every person born from them was born into sin with the exception of the Lord Jesus Christ who did not have a human father but was fathered by the Holy Spirit of God so that He would be both man and God and thus was able to die for man’s sin which He did on the cross as seen in the Word of God. In order to be a true child of God one has to realize that he or she was born a sinner, and then confess that to God, and then thank the Lord for sending His Son into the world to pay for their sin (original) and sins that they commit because of being born a sinner and ask the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive all your sins, which He will because that is why He died. It can go something like this: “God I realize that I am a sinner and I also realize that You died for my sins, and so Lord Jesus I confess this to You and I ask You to come into my life to save me. I also desire to live for You all the rest of my life.” Now 1 John 1:8-10 tells us: “8 If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.” We still sin after we become true believers because we still have the old nature and so these verses in 1 John tells us what to do when we sin after becoming a believer.
Spiritual meaning for My life Today: I trust the Lord that He will cause me to live for Him, and when I do that if I sin that the Holy Spirit will convict me so that I can confess my sins to the Lord and continue to live for Him.
My Steps of Faith for Today: I trust the Lord to guide my wife to show her what He desires for her to do in order to get rid of the cancer she still has in her body.
