“The Object of Worship” (Luke 1:46b, 47b)

MORNING SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 3/14/2026 8:26 AM

My Worship Time                                                                       Focus:  “The Object of Worship”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                           Reference:  Luke 1:46b, 47b

Message of the verses:  “the Lord…God my Savior”

You may be able to see that this morning’s SD is going to be very short.  It has been my practice to break up my Spiritual Diaries by using the sub-titles from the author that I am following at the time.  Sometimes the SD’s will be very long, or very short, today very short.

Mary’s worship of the Lord centered primarily on His role as her Savior.  Now the central theme of all believers’ worship must be the reality that God is the Savior from sin, and judgment, something we all surely need.  If that were not so, it would be impossible to worship Him, as impossible as it is for all who live in eternal torment in hell.  If God were not a saving, redeeming, forgiving God, people might dread Him and attempt to pacify or appease Him, but not worship Him.

I believe that Mary knew that the coming of Messiah would mar the apex of redemptive history.  Mary’s Son would “save His people from their sins” (Matt. 1:21; cf. John 1:29), because the purpose for His coming was “to seek and to save that which was lost (Luke 19:10).  The thrilling reality that through her the Messiah would be born into the world prompted Mary to praise and worship her Redeemer.

(Matt. 1:21; cf. John 1:29)

“21  She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.’”

29 ¶  The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

Spiritual Meaning for my Life Today:  Now as I think about this section of verses we have been going over lately it causes me to reflect on being a born-again believer in Jesus Christ, to think about what would have happened if Christ  had not come to planet earth in order to die on the cross for my sins.  The last part of John 1:29 is such an important part of that verse Jesus “who takes away the sin of the world.”

My Steps of Faith for Today:  I continue to trust the Lord with what is going on around the world, knowing that He is in control and will do justly.
