Introduction to Rev. Six and Beyond

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 3/16/2015 9:55 AM

My Worship Time                                                   Focus:  Introduction to Revelation chapter Six

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  Revelation 6

Message of the verses:  We have finally made it to the sixth chapter of the book of Revelation, and as many people desire to study this book this is the place where they want to be because this is where the action begins and I suppose that many people like action, but this action that is recorded in chapters 6-19 is actions that even the movie directors of Hollywood have not imagined for only one out of four people who were alive at the beginning of the tribulation period will be alive at the end and many who are alive at the end of the tribulation will not be believers and will be cast into the lake of fire.

As we look to these last seventeen chapters we will see that they begin with the glorified Lamb of God opening the first judgments that are called seal judgments and this will be seen in the sixth chapter and then after that we will see that the 144,000 Jewish evangelists will be called, 12,000 out of the twelve tribes of Israel.  This seventh chapter is seen as a pattern of what we will see in chapters 6-19, as it is a lull in the storm of judgment that will continue when the seventh seal is opened for that will bring about a whole new series of judgments called the trumpet judgments, and the last three of these will be what is called “woes” and then there will be another lull in the judgment storms that will come upon the earth.  When this last “woe” or trumpet judgment is opened in chapter fifteen we read the following in verse one:  “Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven angels who had seven plagues, which are the last, because in them the wrath of God is finished.”  John sees the last seven plagues that will come upon planet earth and the people who are on it and then we see with these last seven plagues that the wrath of God will be finished.  This is quite a statement to me, but when I think about that statement I not only think about how God’s wrath will be finished and shortly after the last bowl judgment is set forth from heaven that God will again take over planet earth for the seventh bowl judgment brings in the battle of Armageddon and at the end of that battle Christ will return to planet earth riding on a white horse, not a humble donkey this time, but a white horse showing victory and the raptured saints will be a part of His army and Christ will throw the Antichrist, the false prophet, and Satan into the lake of fire so the curse of sin will very shortly be over as Christ will do over planet earth right after He separates the sheep and the goats.  However there is another time when the wrath of God was finished and that is when our Lord Jesus Christ cried out His last words from the cross “It is finished, “and then He died. “John 19:30 Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.”   What does those words mean “teleo tel-eh’-o” is the word in the Greek language and it means to finish, the end of something, to pay.  When a person was put into prison and after his time was served they would time that word on his release meaning that he had paid for his crime and it would not have to be paid for again.  When Jesus said these words it means that He had finished the work that His Father had given Him to do while on planet earth the first time, and that was to pay for the sins of all who had and would put their trust in Him as Savior and Lord.  God’s wrath was taken out on Christ and was completely paid for by Christ so that all that would call upon Him for salvation realizing that there was no way that they could pay for their own sins, but also realizing that Jesus paid it all would be saved.  Without the wrath of God that was taken out on Jesus no one would ever be saved, for just as we read in Revelation 15:1 “because in them the wrath of God is finished,” it was also finished after Jesus paid for our sins on the cross.

After the n19th chapter of Revelation we see what will happen in the Millennial Kingdom, the promised kingdom to the people of Israel, and then chapters 21-22 speak of the new heavens, new earth, and the New Jerusalem where believers will live for eternity in the presence of the Lamb. We have a long way to go before we see how all of this is seen in chapters 6-22 of Revelation, but as we take our time to study this incredible book it is my desire that all who read my Spiritual Diaries will either come to know Christ as their Savior and Lord, or will do as Peter wrote in his last written words from 2 Peter 3:18 “but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.”  This is part of my prayer every day as I see who has looked at my posts along with the prayer that God will bring about revival in the believers who read this that all will bring glory to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I am thankful that the wrath of God was placed upon my Savior and Lord so that I can serve Him for the rest of my life.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  To love the Lord with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to live in and better understand the love that Christ has for me, to bring glory to Him.

Answer to yesterday’s Bible question:  “The country of the Philistines” (1 Samuel 6:1).

Today’s Bible question:  “Name the eloquent man, born in Alexandria, who was mighty in the Scriptures.”

Answer in our next SD.
