The Storm Anounced PT-2-3 (Ezekiel 30:6-12)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 3/17/2015 8:19 PM

My Worship Time                                                                  Focus:  The Storm Announced PT-2

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  Ezekiel 30:6-19

Message of the verses:  I want to look at two sub-points under “The Storm Announced” in today’s SD.

Egypt will be Desolate (Ezekiel 30:6-9):  “6 ’Thus says the LORD, "Indeed, those who support Egypt will fall And the pride of her power will come down; From Migdol to Syene They will fall within her by the sword," Declares the Lord GOD. 7 “They will be desolate In the midst of the desolated lands; And her cities will be In the midst of the devastated cities. 8 “And they will know that I am the LORD, When I set a fire in Egypt And all her helpers are broken. 9 "On that day messengers will go forth from Me in ships to frighten secure Ethiopia; and anguish will be on them as on the day of Egypt; for behold, it comes!"”

We see in these four verses that the Lord is not only going to desolate Egypt, but also her allies, even Cush who thinks that they will be secure, but they won’t be.  As we have seen throughout this portion of Ezekiel the Lord says “And they will know that I am the LORD!”  People just do not want to acknowledge who God is and what He can do.  The old saying is that He gave them enough rope to hang themselves, but it was possible that they could have bowed the knee and repent and acknowledge that He is Lord of Lords and King of Kings.

Look at the last part of verse eight and then look at this verse from Jeremiah 43:12.  When I set a fire in Egypt And all her helpers are broken,”  “Jer. 43:12 “And I shall set fire to the temples of the gods of Egypt, and he will burn them and take them captive. So he will wrap himself with the land of Egypt as a shepherd wraps himself with his garment, and he will depart from there safely.

Babylon will do God’s Work (Ezekiel 30:10-12):  “10 ’Thus says the Lord GOD, "I will also make the hordes of Egypt cease By the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. 11 “He and his people with him, The most ruthless of the nations, Will be brought in to destroy the land; And they will draw their swords against Egypt And fill the land with the slain. 12 “Moreover, I will make the Nile canals dry And sell the land into the hands of evil men. And I will make the land desolate And all that is in it, By the hand of strangers; I the LORD have spoken."

Let us look at the following verse from Jeremiah:  “Jer. 43:10 and say to them, ’Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, "Behold, I am going to send and get Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant, and I am going to set his throne right over these stones that I have hidden; and he will spread his canopy over them.”  Indeed Nebuchadnezzar was the servant of the Lord.

Now when we look back a long time in our study from the book of Exodus we found out that the Lord defeated the nation of Egypt by Himself, but now He will use Nebuchadnezzar to defeat Egypt and her allies.  Nebuchadnezzar’s army would do horrible things to the people of Egypt, but he would also wreck havoc on the rivers, something that Egypt continued to worship as an idol.  By doing terrible things to their rivers in drying them up it would make life very difficult because of the climate that they lived in is so dry.
