Life is not Fair PT-1 "In the Courtroom" (Eccl. 4:1-3)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 4/26/2013 9:05 AM
My Worship Time                                                                              Focus:  In the Courtroom
Bible Reading & Meditation                                                 Reference:  Eccl. 4:1-3
Message of the verses:  Today we begin the forth chapter of the book of Ecclesiastes and Dr. Wiersbe entitles this chapter “Life Just Isn’t Fair,” and I am sure that all people in the world have thought that from time to time in their lives, for when we look at life under the sun we can surely come to that conclusion.  We will now see how Solomon viewed this seeing how he was the richest man in material things that ever lived, and was the wisest man who ever lived.
Dr. Wiersbe writes in his introduction to this chapter the following “In this chapter, Solomon recorded his observations from visiting four different places and watching several people go through a variety of experiences.  His conclusion was that life is anything but monotonous, for we have no idea what problems may come to us on any given day.  No wonder he wrote, ‘Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth’ (Prov. 27:1 KNJV).”
In the courtroom (Eccl. 4:1-3):  “1 ¶  Then I looked again at all the acts of oppression which were being done under the sun. And behold I saw the tears of the oppressed and that they had no one to comfort them; and on the side of their oppressors was power, but they had no one to comfort them. 2  So I congratulated the dead who are already dead more than the living who are still living. 3  But better off than both of them is the one who has never existed, who has never seen the evil activity that is done under the sun.”
These verses seem to show Solomon in a courtroom looking at three tragedies of which the first one is oppression and exploitation in the halls of justice.  Second he say pain and sorrow that was in the lives of the innocent people; and that last thing he saw was the unconcern on the part of those who could have brought comfort.  All of these are sad situations.  This had such an effect on Solomon that he thought it would be better to be dead, even better yet not to have been born.  I one was never born then one would never have to view the things he is writing about.
Solomon was the King of Israel, but because of the political machinery that was in place it would have been impossible to fix all of the problems, as it is impossible to fix all the political problems in any country.  As believers in Jesus Christ we are to pray for those who rule over us, and that is a difficult thing to do at this time in our nation’s history, but God commends us to do it.  We are also to be involved as much as possible to elect fair and just people since we do have this power to vote in our nation.  As long as we live in this sinful world things of injustice will continue to happen, but we know that the Lord is the ruler of all the earth, and one day the Lord Jesus Christ will return to earth to set up is 1000 year kingdom on this earth and at that time justice will prevail.
Spiritual meaning for my life today:  It is not too hard to get down as we look around the world today seeing the great injustice that is going on.  We live in an age where communications is perhaps the best is ever has been and so we can tell in an instance when something is going wrong.  I know that this has never been a problem for the Lord to see what is going on around His world, and I also know that He is in charge and that He has a plan for this earth and nothing will stop it from coming to pass.  With this in mind as I think of the Lord omnipresence, omnipotence, omniscience, His love and justice I have to continue to look up trusting in the Lord.
My Steps of Faith for Today:  Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “5  Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. 6  In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.”  I trust that as I acknowledge Him in all of my decisions today, but small and big that He will direct my path and make it straight.
Memory verse for the week:  Mark 14:38
38 Keep watching and praying that you may not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
