My Worship Time Focus:
PT-2 “Persecution by Religion”
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: Matthew
10:17b
Message of the
verse: “for they will deliver you up
to the courts, and scourge you in their synagogues.”
We talked about, for the most part, that Jews are not
persecuting believers and have not since the temple was destroyed in 70 A.
D. Remember we are talking about a
telescope effect here and so when we get to the tribulation period that will
begin again. Now I would like to say
that what is going on in Israel at this time we have seen some persecution of
believers by Jews. Once we get to the 11th
chapter of Revelation we will see that the Antichrist will begin to persecute
all believers. This will happen in the
last half of the tribulation period.
Now as we look around the world we see that it is Muslins
who are doing the most persecution around the world. I am friends with people who ministered in
the Central African Republic and there is terrible persecution from Muslins
against believers at this very time. I
have heard that around the world there are around 1000 people who die for the
cause of Christ.
MacArthur writes “Religious persecution of believers has
frequently been from within Christendom itself.
Paul warned the Ephesians elders that ‘after my departure savage wolves
will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves
men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them’
(Acts 20:29).” This is exactly what
happened as there was a river that led from the sea up to Ephesus and after a
while it was not kept dug out and after a while the whole city was
destroyed. There is nothing but ruins
left there at this time.
MacArthur goes on “The final great persecution of God’s
people will be the worldwide religious system called ‘Babylon the great, the
mother of harlots and of the abominations of the earth,’ who will become ‘drunk
with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of Babel, when rebellious
mankind determined to storm heaven and establish its own Satan-inspired
substitute for the way of God. Man’s
religions have always opposed and sought to destroy God’s truth; and one day
they will culminate in an incredibly powerful ecumenical world religion that
will relentlessly and mercilessly oppose the gospel of Christ and persecute His
people.” I find it interesting that somewhere
in the wealthy part of the Middle East that they will complete three buildings
which they will call “One World Religion.”

Lord willing next we will
look at the persecution by governments and as we live in what was once the greatest
country in the world I think that our government may begin persecution
here. During the Covid pandemic we saw
that gambling places were left open and churches were forced to close.
