PT-1 "The Accusation was Rebellious" (Matt. 12:28-30)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 2/8/2022 9:22 AM

My Worship Time                                                Focus:  PT-1 “The Accusation Was Rebellious”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                    Reference:  Matt. 12:28-30

Message of the verses:  28 “But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. 29 “Or how can anyone enter the strong man’s house and carry off his property, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house. 30 “He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters.”

Today we will begin to look at the third, and basic, reason behind the Pharisees’ accusation, and that was their rebelliousness against God, and as we have studied in the Scriptures about the Pharisees we know that they were in truth rebellious against God.  Our Lord had already dispelled the foolish charge that He had worked under Satan’s power, and so not the only remaining possibility was that He cast out demons by the Spirit of God.”

Now as a believer I know that Jesus Christ did His work by the Spirit of God, and so then His miracles were of God and He had to then be the Messiah, which He truly was and is, for our Lord is “the Son of David,” which is exactly what the multitudes had considered as seen in verse 23.  We can look at passages like Isaiah 29:18; 35:5-6 that will show us this.  “On that day the deaf will hear words of a book, And out of their gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind will see.  “5 Then the eyes of the blind will be opened And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped. 6 Then the lame will leap like a deer, And the tongue of the mute will shout for joy. For waters will break forth in the wilderness And streams in the Arabah.”  Isaiah was predicting these very things that our Lord did to the man in our section that we have been studying about for a while now.  Now we will look at the truth that the Messiah was to be Israel’s supreme and eternal King from Psalm 2:6; Jeremiah 23:5; and Zechariah 9:9.

"But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain."  “"Behold, the days are coming," declares the LORD, "When I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; And He will reign as king and act wisely And do justice and righteousness in the land.”  “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”  MacArthur writes “Therefore,’ Jesus was saying, ‘if I am the Messiah, I am also the coming King, and if I am the King, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.’”

Now we understand that Jesus will not reign on earth in His full glory and divine prerogatives until the millennial kingdom, and after that in the eternal kingdom of the new heaven and new earth, one that will never fade away.  However as John MacArthur writes “in widest sense, Christ’s kingdom is the sphere of His rule in any place or age.  In that sense He is King wherever He may be, and those who love Him are His subjects; therefore His kingdom was always with Him during His earthly ministry.  In a similar way it exists now on earth wherever He is served as Lord.  ‘For [God] delivered us from the domain of darkness,’ Paul says, ‘and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son’ (Col. 1:13).  It is in that kingdom that every believer begins to live the moment he receives the King as his Lord and Savior.”

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  It is a great honor and privilege to serve my Lord and Savior while on planet earth and I look forward to serving Him in the Millennial kingdom on this earth and also in the eternal kingdom where sin will never again be a problem for me.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  Trust the Lord to give me the grace and wisdom to understand the material that I will teach on both Friday and Sunday morning to His glory.
