The Answer (Matt. 12:25-30)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 2/5/2022 10:20 AM

My Worship Time                                                                                          Focus: “The Answer”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                              Reference:  Matthew 12:25-30

Message of the verses:  25 And knowing their thoughts He said to them, "Any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and any city or house divided against itself shall not stand. 26 “And if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand? 27 “And if I by Beelzebul cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? Consequently they shall be your judges. 28 "But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. 29 “Or how can anyone enter the strong man’s house and carry off his property, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house. 30 “He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters.”

I have mentioned in recent Spiritual Diaries that the upcoming SD’s will be shorter, and that is the case for today.  As we look at this Spiritual Diary it will be like an introduction to the next few Spiritual Diaries.  Lord willing we will then be looking at “The Accusation was Absurd” (12:25b-26).  Then “The Accusation was prejudiced” (12:27); then lastly, “The Accusation Was Rebellious” (12:28-30).

John MacArthur writes this short “introduction” to these different topics:  “Although the Pharisees were speaking to the crowd beyond Jesus’ hearing, He nevertheless knew their thoughts.  Mark tells us that some scribes from Jerusalem joined the Pharisees in accusing Jesus of casting out demons by the power of Beelzebul, and that Jesus ‘called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables’ (3:22-23).  They would not confront Him directly with their accusation, but He confronted them directly with its absurdity, its prejudice, and its rebelliousness.”

I have mentioned in earlier SD’s that once Jesus was accused of doing miracles by the power of Satan that He would then only speak to the crowds in parables as it seems to me that He had given up on them because they had gone too far by accusing Him of working with Satan, which is what is called “Blaspheming the Holy Spirit.”
