PT-3 "They Curse the Light" (Matt. 16:1-4)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 8/14/2022 7:50 AM

My Worship Time                                                                  Focus:  PT-3 “They Curse the Light”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                 Reference:  Matthew 16:1-4

Message of the verses:  “1 And the Pharisees and Sadducees came up, and testing Him asked Him to show them a sign from heaven. 2 But He answered and said to them, "When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ 3 “And in the morning, ’There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Do you know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times? 4 “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and a sign will not be given it, except the sign of Jonah." And He left them, and went away.”

One of the things that people have the ability to do is to add onto things, things like technical data, and man can add onto these thing in each generation.  In the Bible as we read through it we see what is called progressive revelation, and in a sense that is what mankind can do, but the problem with mankind as they continue to learn things of the world is that they have no comprehension of the things of God.  Mankind, in the days of WWII developed the Atom Bomb and used it a couple of times to help end the war, however it was God who made the Atoms that man figured out how to split and make a bomb with, and I don’t think that too many of these people who were working on the bomb thought too much about that when they were working on it.  God made our planet in seven days and all the wonderful things that we find on it and we are able to do with what we find on it but we lack so much if one does not realize Who it was who created it and because of that they miss out on the greatest thing possible, and that is getting to know the One who made all of this and giving Him the glory for His immense creation.

MacArthur writes “In answer to the disciples’ question about ‘the sign of [His] coming, and of the end of the age,’ Jesus said, ‘You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars;…nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes…And many false prophets will arise, and will mislead many.  And because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold’ (Matt. 24:3, 6-7, 11-12).

“Those signs that Jesus will return abound in our day.  No period of history has experienced more wars or been so preoccupied with the prospect of war as our own.  With unprecedented surpluses of food in some parts of the world, other parts still experience devastating famines.  Cults and false religions of every sort are proliferating even in countries that have been nominally Christian for hundreds of years.  The spirit of lawlessness and self-will is rampant.”

Just a reminder that this quotation comes from a book written in 1988, so even in 34 years these things that have been written about seem like ancient history compared to what is going on in our country and around the world at this time.  We have billionaires buying up farm land in order not to produce food, in order to have people starve because they believe that our world cannot sustain all the people that are on the earth at this time.  I have a friend of mine who lives in Bangladesh who said a few years ago to me that if all the people in the world lived in the state of Texas there would be more room for them than for the people living in Bangladesh.  All I can say is that I have studied the Bible and what is says about the end times and I think that we are very close to what the Bible calls the Rapture of the Church.  Maybe after the disappearance of a couple of billion people those left will be happy because we are gone and won’t have to go on with their tricks to starve people.
