PT-5 "They Curse the Light" (Matt. 16:1-4)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 8/15/2022 9:11 AM

My Worship Time                                                                  Focus:  PT-4 “They Curse the Light”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                 Reference:  Matthew 16:1-4

Message of the verses:  1 And the Pharisees and Sadducees came up, and testing Him asked Him to show them a sign from heaven. 2 But He answered and said to them, "When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ 3 "And in the morning, ’There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Do you know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times? 4 "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and a sign will not be given it, except the sign of Jonah." And He left them, and went away.”

We begin, what I hope will be the last SD in this section, with a look at what Paul declared in 2 Thessalonians 2:7-8 “7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. 8  Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming;”  This verse is an end time verse that I believe will happen after the church is taken to heaven at the rapture.  Paul explains to Timothy that “the Spirit explicitly says that in the later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons” (1 Tim. 4:1). Peter wrote of the great apostasy, false teaching, heresies, mockery, and denial of Christ’s return that would characterize the last days, and we will now look at 2 Peter 2:1-3; and 2 Peter 3:3-4.  “1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. 2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; 3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.”  “3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 4 and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation."  I think that this time is already on us, but I also think that it will get a lot worse.

Those alive since 1948 have seen the prophecy of Ezekiel come true as the Lord brought about the nation of Israel as was foreseen in Ezekiel 34:11-31.  Then in Ezekiel 38 we see that Israel will have a great enemy to the North of them and if you look on a map you will see that Moscow is directly North of Jerusalem.

MacArthur writes “Scripture also declares that the end times will be characterized by great concern for world unity, world government, world economics, and world religion (see Dan. 2:7; Rev. 13:17-18).”  You can also now look at what is happening in the United States as our government is trying desperately to join the world order.  “The world is looking for stability and security and is ripe for the unifying role of a world leader who can stop wars and bring an end to political, economic, and social chaos—the role that one day will be filled by the antichrist.

“All of those signs that mark the end times are characteristic of our last day.  There can be no doubt that we live near the end of the age, and the concern of believers should be for what the Bible says rather than for what men say and for what God is doing rather than for what men are doing.”  To all of this I say AMEN!!

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I have been privileged to live in the time when Israel became a nation again, something that since I have become a believer have studied because it is the major key that will bring in the end times, something we are now living in.  “The concern of believers should be for what the Bible says rather than for what men say and for what God is doing rather than for what men are doing.”

My Steps of Faith for Today:  As I see all of the things that the Bible is predicting come true in my life time I am to trust the Lord as even though at times it does not look like He is in control, He is in total control.
