PT-2 "Intro to Matt. 27:45-53"

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 8/22/2024 8:08 AM

My Worship Time                                                              Focus:  PT-2 “Intro to Matt. 27:45-53”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                              Reference:  Matthew 27:45-53

Message of the verses:  45  Now from the sixth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour. 46 About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?" that is, "MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?" 47 And some of those who were standing there, when they heard it, began saying, "This man is calling for Elijah." 48 Immediately one of them ran, and taking a sponge, he filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and gave Him a drink. 49 But the rest of them said, "Let us see whether Elijah will come to save Him." 50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. 51 And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. 52 The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many.”

I ended up the last SD by asking a question, “Why, then, we may ask, does history remember the name of only one of those men?” (Speaking of the men who were crucified during the time of the Roman Empire’s crucifixions in Palestine.)

I want to answer this question as I begin this SD, and the answer is clear as John MacArthur writes “almost from the opening words of Scrupture.  The sin of Adam and Eve not only caused their own fall and that of all their descendants but also brought corruption of the entire earth.  It was for that reason Paul declared that the physical world groans like a woman in childbirth, longing to be restored to its God-designed perfection (Rom. 8:19-22).”  “19 For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. 20  For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now” (Rom. 8:19-22).  Can you hear the creation groaning, especially in different parts of the world today, as it groans in Russia and Ukraine, in Israel and the Middle East, and even in the United States of America where we will be voting for either a communist, woman President, or for a President who has given up so much to run for this great office, almost even given up his life.  I have mentioned before that there are some things similar to President Trump and what the Lord Jesus did, now I know President Trump is a sinful man for we all sinned and come short of the glory of God.  The Lord Jesus Christ left His home in glory to come to planet earth in order to pay for the sins of the world, and the people hated Him so much that they crucified Him.  We know the story that He came to die for the sins of the world, and took the awful punishment that we all deserved as He suffered and died on the cross, something we have been looking at for a few weeks now, but as we will see that is not the end of the story for three days later He will rise from the dead and spend another 40 days on earth before He returns to glory, sitting at the right hand of His Father praying for us.  President Trump, a billionaire could have stayed out of the political scene in our country but felt he needed to run for office because he cares for this country and all that he has been going through has cost him a lot, even being shot at as someone was trying to kill him to keep him from running for office.  Like I said that is some similar things between his situation and what the Lord Jesus Christ did for everyone, but one thing is different and that is that Jesus Christ was sinless, never sinned, never could and President Trump like all of us is sinful.  I just pray that the Spirit of God will open his eyes to the truth of salvation and that the Lord will use him to help bring revival to our country who has been given so much, and lately have turned their backs on the very best thing that is offered to them, the salvation of their souls through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Lord willing I will finish this section in tomorrow’s SD.
