PT-1 "Satan's Children Hate God's Children" (1 John 3:13, 15)

EVENING SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 1/18/2025 8:05 PM

My Worship Time                                       Focus:  PT-1 “Satan’s Children Hate God’s Children”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                   Reference:  1 John 3:13, 15

Message of the verses:  “De not be surprised, brethren, if the world hates you…Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.”

Now as we read the beginning of verse fifteen we can see that in the eyes of God, hatred is the moral equivalent of murder, thus everyone who hates his brother is a murderer.  Now I think that we realize that only a small percentage of people actually murder someone.  However many more have been angry enough to have done so, had the circumstances been favorable and were they not afraid of the severe consequences that they would have suffered.  Let us look now at a few verses that back this statement up.

Genesis 9:6 “6 “Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made man.”

Matthew 26:52 “52 Then Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword.”

Romans 13:4 “4 for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.”

Continuing on, but the only outward difference between murder and hate is the deed itself—the attitudes are the same.  Now in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus made this clear

21 "You have heard that the ancients were told, ‘YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT MURDER’ and ‘Whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court.’ 22 “But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, ‘You good-for-nothing,’ shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.

MacArthur adds “Impenitent and unconverted sinners will be eternally condemned for their habitual attitudes of hate, even if those attitudes never translate into physical actions.”

I think that is quite a statement to make, as I know that it is true, but what he was saying is that you will be punished for planning a crime, and in this case murder, even though you have not even committed it.

Now I think that because it is Saturday evening and I have to go over the lesson that I am to teach tomorrow morning in our Sunday school class that I will end now and Lord willing finish this section in tomorrow evenings SD.
