PT-2 “The Teaching Scripture” (2 Timothy 3:16b)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 6/7/2025 10:29 AM

My Worship Time                                                              Focus:  PT-2 “The Teaching Scripture”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                 Reference: 2 Timothy 3:16b

Message of the verse:  “for teaching”

I begin this SD with a quotation from the commentary of John MacArthur:  “Throughout church history, the Lord has uniquely and wonderfully sustained and blessed the spiritual lives and influence of believers who, because of imprisonment, illiteracy, isolation, or other restrictions beyond their control, could not study His Word.  But the teaching of Scripture is the divine body of truth without which no believer who has access to it can live, minister, or witness effectively.  Tragically, some of the most biblically illiterate believers in our day life in lands where God’s Word is readily available and where scriptural preaching, teaching, and literature are abundant.”

Let me tell you a story that actually happened in the country of Cambodia many years ago.  The communist government of Cambodia at this time was going through the country, after going through the big cities killing different people who were resisting the government.  During this time of killing people in the country they came to a village and made the people of the village dig a very big hole, a hole that was supposed to be used bury all the people in the village.  After the whole was dug and the people were standing around it waiting to be killed there was a woman who cried out to the God who died on the cross.  This was all she knew about the Bible and about the Lord Jesus Christ who came to earth to save sinners.  As the moments continued to pass by there was no noise of gunfire and a little while later the people opened their eyes and saw no soldiers, as they had all left.

Now a few months later there were some missionaries who came to this village and began to talk to those in the village about salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ, and when they came to this woman, the woman who cried out to the God who died on the cross, she asked them where they had been before this, and why had they not come earlier.  Well there was no real answer to this question, but they were there now and so they witnessed to those in the village about the salvation that comes through Jesus Christ, Savior and Lord.

This story goes to show that God is in control, that in God’s timing He will save those who turn to Him even in a way that this woman did, not knowing hardly anything about the Lord Jesus Christ with the exception of knowing that He died on the cross, and God honored her plea, saved her along with many others in that Cambodian village.  If He can do that with someone who all they knew about Him was that He died on the cross, then think about what He can do with those who know the truth, but as yet have not accepted it.

One more paragraph from MacArthur’s commentary to finish this SD for this morning:  It goes without saying that it is impossible to believe, understand, and follow what you not even know.  It is completely futile, as well as foolish, to expect to live a spiritual life without knowing spiritual truth.  Biblically untaught believers, especially those in biblically untaught churches, are easy prey for false teachers.  They are spiritual ‘children, tossed here and there by waves, and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming’ (Eph. 4:14).  Throughout most of the redemptive history, God could have said what He said in Hosea’s day:  ‘My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge’ (Hosea 4:6).  It is for that reason, as well as for the even greater reason of honoring the Lord, that regular, systematic, and through study of the doctrine in God’s Word is imperative for God’s people.”

Let me just say that that is one of the reasons for these Spiritual Diaries that I put on my blogs to show the things that God has and is still teaching me through the study of His Word, and by God’s grace He will use what I write to bring people to the Lord, and to cause believers to “Grow in grace in the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Spiritual Meaning for My life Today:  I desire to continue telling those I come in contact with, and those who read my Spiritual Diaries to come to the Lord before it is too late.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  To trust that the Lord is showing my wife where she is to go to get the treatment that He has for her in order to make sure that her body is cleansed of cancer.
