EVENING SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 6/16/2025 9:00 PM
My Worship Time Focus: PT-3“The Enemy”
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference:
Jude 3-4
Message of the verses: “3 Beloved, while I
was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the
necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith
which was once for all handed down to the saints. 4 For certain persons have
crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this
condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness
and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.”
I begin this SD by picking up where I left off in
the last SD, looking at verses 3-4 of Jude.
Warren Wiersbe entitles this section in his commentary on Jude “The
Enemy,” and this evening I will begin by looking at the third sub-section
entitled “They denied God’s truth” (v. 4e).
Now
before I begin looking at this next section in Dr. Wiersbe’s commentary on Jude
I want to say that I thought that I ordered another book from Grace To You
website, but when it did not come I called there today and found out that I did
not actually order the commentary on 2 Peter as for some reason they did not
get the order. When I ordered it this
afternoon I found out that this commentary also has Jude in it, and so I will
have some more good things to look at as I go through this short book of Jude,
a book (letter) that to me is very great to study again.
The
Denied God’s Truth: (v. 4e). “Even
denying the Lord that bought them,” Peter had warned (2 Peter 2:1). Jude was not writing about two different persons
when he wrote “the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ” for the Greek
construction demands that these two names refer to one Person” writes Dr.
Warren Wiersbe. “In other words, Jude
was affirming strongly the deity of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is God.”
Now
that is one of the most important truths that are found in the Word of God,
that Jesus Christ is the second person of the godhead. I cannot express this in any other way. If a person is a born-again believer in Jesus
Christ they will have to recognize Him as God.
If you look at what the cults teach they all teach that Jesus Christ is
not really God, come in the flesh. Now
the catholic church does teach that Jesus Christ is God, but there are other
things that they teach which certainly do not go along with what the Bible
teaches, for instance the catholic church states that Mary, the mother of Jesus
is God and remained a virgin. Mary, the
mother of Jesus also had to become born-again in order to go to heaven, and the
Bible teaches that Mary had many children who were fathered by her husband
Joseph, but Jesus was fathered by the Holy Spirit of God while she was a
virgin.
I
go on with what Dr. Wiersbe comments on in this section: “But the apostates
would deny this. They would agree that Jesus
Christ was a good man and a great teacher, but not that He was eternal God come
in human flesh. The first test of any
religious teacher, as we have seen, is, ‘What do you think of Jesus Christ? Is
He God come in the flesh?’ Anyone who
denies this cardinal doctrine is a false teacher no matter how correct he may be in other matters. If he denies the deity of Christ, something
will always be missing in whatever he affirms.”
I
am happy that Dr. Warren Wiersbe just backed me up on what I just wrote.
