The Leaders are Deceived PT-3 (Ezek. 11:22-25)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 12/3/2014 8:03 AM

My Worship Time                                                             Focus:  The Leaders are Deceived PT-3

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  Ezekiel 11:22-25

Message of the verses:  We will be looking at the last sub-section from Dr. Wiersbe’s outline on Ezekiel chapter eleven in our SD for today.

The Glory Departs (Ezekiel 11:22-25):  “22 Then the cherubim lifted up their wings with the wheels beside them, and the glory of the God of Israel hovered over them. 23 The glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city and stood over the mountain which is east of the city. 24 And the Spirit lifted me up and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God to the exiles in Chaldea. So the vision that I had seen left me. 25 Then I told the exiles all the things that the LORD had shown me.”

In his vision Ezekiel sees the chariot-throne, which was lingering over the East Gate of Jerusalem move and hover over the Mt. of Olives.  Dr. Wiersbe points out that he could have used the word “Ichabod” which speaks of the glory departing, but in the later chapters of his book he will see the glory of the Lord return in the Millennial Temple.  (Ezekiel 43:1-5)

Even though we have been over this ground before I still want to remind everyone of what Dr. Wiersbe has to say in this paragraph:  “After the temple was destroyed in 586 BC, the glory of God disappeared from the earth and didn’t return until the birth of Christ in Bethlehem (Luke 2:9, 32; John 1:14).  Wicked men crucified the Lord of glory (1 Cor. 2:8), but He arose again and ascended back to heaven from Bethany (Luke 24:50-51; Acts 1:9-12) which is on the eastern slope of Mount Olivet.  One day Jesus will return to the Mount of Olives (Zech. 14:4) to deliver His people and establish His kingdom.  The glory will have returned!”

We see that the vision was over in the last two verses of this section and then Ezekiel would tell the exiles what he had seen, but not all would believe.  The things that he saw in the vision would take place just as he saw them for the Word of God will never fail.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Just as the things that Ezekiel saw in the vision we just saw all came true the things that are still future that the Word of God speaks of will also come true.  It is the job of the church to tell others about these things, things like the rapture of the church, the rise of Antichrist, the Tribulation Period that will take place as a part of the 70th week of Daniel’s prophecy from the 9th chapter of his book, the return of Jesus Christ to planet earth to head up the Millennial Kingdom, the last war as described in the book of Revelations, along with the destruction of planet earth as seen in 2 Peter 3:10, the new earth and new Jerusalem established, the white throne judgment, eternity beginning never to end.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  Continue to tell others about what the future is as told in the pages of Scripture.

Memory verses for the week:  2 Peter 1:1-3.

1 Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:  2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; 3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.

Answer to yesterday’s Bible question:  “It would not fall because it was built upon a rock” (Matt. 7:24-25).

Today’s Bible question:  “What OT character said ‘I have sinned against the Lord’?”

Answer in our next SD.
