Introduction to Micah 3-5

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 12/21/2015 9:10 PM
My Worship Time                                                      Focus:  Introduction to Micah Chapters 3-5
Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  Micah Three
Message of the verses:  In Dr. Wiersbe’s commentary he entitles his second chapter “A Ruler Is Coming,” and it covers chapters 3-5 of the book of Micah and so we will look briefly at the introduction to this chapter and then begin to look at chapter three of Micah in our next SD.
Now when we began to look at Micah we learned that there are three messages that he gives in these seven chapters of the book.  We just finished looking at the first message, “Judgment is Coming,” and the second message, “A Ruler Is Coming” is the one we will be looking at for a while, and then in the last two chapters we will look at “A Challenge Message:  ‘Trust the Lord Now.”  Indecently the one we are going to look at now is a Promise Message.
Dr. Wiersbe writes the following from in introduction for this second message:  “Micah’s second message is at the heart of the book and focuses on Israel’s future.  First, Micah rebuked the leaders of the nation for their sinful conduct, which God would judge (3:1-12), and he outlined the events that would usher in the promised kingdom (4:1-5:15).  Knowing that God has such a glorious future planned for their nation should have motivated the leaders to turn from their sins and obey the Lord.  ‘Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure’ (1 John 3:3 NIV).  Alas, they didn’t even pay attention to the sermon!”
These are some sad words that people hear the truth and the truth can set them free, but they don’t want to be set free as they love their sinful ways and thus they stay in them.
