SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 4/9/2016 10:20 AM
My Worship Time Focus: PT-3 The Confusion
Bible Reading &
Meditation Reference: John 6:34-40
Message of the verses: “34 Then they said to Him, "Lord, always
give us this bread." 35 Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life;
he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never
thirst. 36 “But I said to you that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe. 37
“All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I
will certainly not cast out. 38
"For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who
sent Me. 39 "This is the will of
Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it
up on the last day. 40 “For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who
beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will
raise him up on the last day."”
I realize
that we have been looking at this passage for the last two days, and today
makes three, but there is a lot of wonderful truth in this section of
Scripture, truth that can mean the difference of where one spends eternity, for
the clear message of salvation is found throughout the book of John and as we
continue to look at this section we will see that it is here. We will begin with a quote from John
MacArthur and then there will be a list of different Scripture that will back
up what he says in the quote.
“That God
is absolutely sovereign in salvation is foundational to the Christian
faith. Those errant theological systems
(i.e. Pelagianism, semi-Pelagianism, and Arminianism) that make salvation
dependent on man’s will in effect dethrone God, and are contrary to the clear
statements of Scripture:
44 “No one can come to Me unless the Father who
sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day (John 6:44).
65 And He was saying, "For this reason I have
said to you, that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted him from the
Father (John 6:65).”
14 “For many are called, but few are chosen’
(Matt. 22:14).”
20 “Unless the Lord had shortened those days, no
life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect, whom He chose, He
shortened the days (Mark. 13:20).”
48 When the Gentiles heard this, they began
rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord; and as many as had been appointed
to eternal life believed (Acts. 13:48).”
28 And we know that God causes all things to work
together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to
His purpose. 29 For those whom He
foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so
that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; 30 and these whom He predestined, He also
called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He
justified, He also glorified (Rom. 8:28-30).”
4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation
of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him (Eph. 1:4).”
12 So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy
and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and
patience; (Col. 3:12).”
4 knowing, brethren beloved by God, His choice of
you (1 Thes. 1:4);”
13 But we should always give thanks to God for
you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the
beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the
truth (2 Thes. 2:13).”
9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling,
not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which
was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity, (2 Tim. 1:9).”
10 For this reason I endure all things for the
sake of those who are chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which
is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory (2 Tim. 2:10).”
1 Paul, a bond-servant of God and an apostle of
Jesus Christ, for the faith of those chosen of God and the knowledge of the
truth which is according to godliness (Titus 1:1).”
5 Listen, my beloved brethren: did not God choose
the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He
promised to those who love Him? (James 2:5).”
1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who
reside as aliens, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and
Bithynia, who are chosen 2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by
the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with
His blood: May grace and peace be yours in the fullest measure (1 Peter 1:1-2).”
9 But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A
HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the
excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous
light; (1 Peter 1:9).”
“The
unbelief of spiritually dead (Eph. 2:1) sinners cannot thwart the saving work
of God. Having chosen them in eternity
past, He graciously and irresistibly calls them to Himself.”
We will try
and conclude this section of Scripture from the sixth chapter of John in our
next SD.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: I am thankful that the Lord did all of the
work in order to save me as these verses teach me.
Answer to yesterday’s Bible question: “He drove an evil spirit out of her” (Acts
16:16-18).”
Today’s Bible question:
“In the parable of the lost sheep, how many sheep did the man lose?”
Answer in our next SD.
