PT-2 "Disputes and Warfare Among the Nations" (Matt. 24:6-7a)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 12/6/2023 9:57 AM

My Worship Time                                Focus:  PT-2 “Disputes and Warfare Among the Nations”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                               Reference:  Matthew 24:6-7a)

Message of the verses:  6 “And you will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. 7 “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom,”

I am not sure if there is a difference between nation and kingdom but the point that I think that Jesus is making here is that no group of people will be exempt from war or the threat of war.  The Tribulation period that I believe will soon take place on planet earth will be the worst time in the history of the world.  Yes the first three and a half years will not be as bad as the last three and a half years, but those last years will be much more than wars and rumors of wars as many, many, many people will die.  Both the book of Daniel and also the book of Revelation (6-19) give details as to what will happen.  I have written my personal SD’s on both of those books, in fact on my other blog I am going over and adding to what was written about Daniel in 2013.

Let us look at Daniel 11:40, a chapter that is very difficult to understand, but well worth looking at.  “"At the end time the king of the South will collide with [the Antichrist] him, and the king of the North will storm against him with chariots, with horsemen and with many ships; and he will enter countries, overflow them and pass through.”  MacArthur writes “The kingdom of the Antichrist will basically comprise the territory once held by the ancient Roman empire, in particular a western confederacy made up of a unified Europe.  Daniel mentions that it will be a ten-nation empire (7:24), which cannot help bring to mind the present European Common Market.”  The nursery rhyme “Humpty Dumpty” was written about the Roman Empire falling apart, but when is says “all the kings horses and all the kings men couldn’t put Humpty Dumpty back together again,” they must not have read Daniel 7:24 to show that it would go back together again.

I have mentioned that the Tribulation period will begin soon after the Rapture of the Church, and Daniel 9:27a shows us how it will begin:  “"And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week,” and the week is a week of years so the covenant will be for seven years.  The many that Daniel is talking about is the nation of Israel.  I have said that this would look good for a peace treaty with Israel at this time as there is much going on in the Middle East at this time.

Daniel 7:27 goes on to talk about in the middle of the seven years that war will begin as the Antichrist will break his covenant with Israel.  Daniel 11:41 then goes on to say “41 "He will also enter the Beautiful Land, and many countries will fall; but these will be rescued out of his hand: Edom, Moab and the foremost of the sons of Ammon.”  The “he” is talking about the Antichrist and more nations will be involved as seen in 11:42-43.  “42 “Then he will stretch out his hand against other countries, and the land of Egypt will not escape. 43  "But he will gain control over the hidden treasures of gold and silver and over all the precious things of Egypt; and Libyans and Ethiopians will follow at his heels.”

MacArthur writes “The Antichrist apparently defeats the other great powers, at least temporarily.  “But rumors from the East and from the North will disturb him, and he will go forth with great wrath to destroy and annihilate many.  And he will pitch the tents of his royal pavilion between the seas and the beautiful Holy Mountain; yet he will come to his end, and no one will help him” (11:44-45).  The northern and eastern forces regroup, and when the Antichrist goes to meet them he is utterly defeated and destroyed, with no one to help him.  Revelation speaks of a great cavalry force of 2000 million that will come from the East and destroy a third of mankind (Rev. 9:14-16).  It is interesting that the mainland Chinese army passed that number some years ago.”

Lord willing we will continue to talk about this war in our next SD.
