PT-1 “Certainties Regarding God’s Judgment” (Jude 14b-16)

EVENING SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 8/16/2025 7:42 PM

My Worship Time                                      Focus:  PT-1 “Certainties Regarding God’s Judgment”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                        Reference:  Jude 14b-16

Message of the verses:  saying, "Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones, 15 to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him." 16 These are grumblers, finding fault, following after their own lusts; they speak arrogantly, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage.”

We have just finished looking at Enoch’s prophecy and now we will begin to look at Jude’s subsequent comments as they set forth three certainties regarding God’s judgment on apostasy.  It is my hope and prayer that as I study this wonderful little book and for those who read these Spiritual Diaries that we will all have a much better understanding of apostasy, for we know that this was not really the intent of what Jude wanted to write, as he wanted to write about our common salvation, but the Spirit of God changed his plans and I am thankful He did as I can learn much more about apostasy.

John MacArthur writes “The first certainty is that the Lord will come (cf. Dan. 7:13; Luke 12:40; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thess. 3:13).  The aorist tense of the verb translated came suggests judgment had already occurred.  The certainty of Christ’s return was under attack from the false teachers, and Jude’s reminder reinforced the apostle Peter’s earlier teaching on this matter )cf.  2 Peter 3:1-10 and the commentary on that passage in chapter 8 of this volume).  Now it is my plans to look at 2 Peter once I finish with Jude and so Lord willing we will look at that great section from 2 Peter 3:1-10 later on.

Now we will look from MacArthur’s commentary:  “Second, the Lord will not come alone.  While He alone is the final judge.  He will be accompanied by many thousands of His holy ones (‘saints’) could refer to believers (cf. 1 Cor. 1:2; 1 Thess. 3:1-3), who will return with Christ when He comes in Judgment (Rev. 19:14; cf. Zech 14:5).  However the emphasis on judgment here seems to favor viewing the holy ones as angels, since angels appear in other judgment contexts in the New Testament (Matt 24:31; 25:31; Mark 8:38; 2 Thess. 1:7)  The saints will have a judgment role during the millennial kingdom (Rev. 2:26-27; 3:21; cf. Dan. 722; 1 Cor. 6:2), but angels will serve God’s executioners when Christ returns (Matt. 13:39-41, 49-50; 24:29-31; 25:31; 2 Thess. 1:7-10).”

Now if you take the time to look up the verses which are mentioned in these two paragraphs then you will learn much about the end-times as this is very important to me as any of you can tell if you have read my Spiritual Diaries, because the Lord opened my eyes to the truth of the Gospel on the 26th of January, 1974 while listening to some cassette tapes entitled “Two Years After the Late Great Planet Earth” which were sermons by Hal Lindsey who wrote the book “The Late Great Planet Earth” two years before this series of tapes.  God, through His Holy Spirit and His Word with the aid of those tapes changed my life completely as I can say that my motives were not good as I went to Florida in January of 1974, but He had different plans for me and I will ever be grateful for what happened to me that time I spent in Florida.
