“Titus, The Faithful Known” (2 Tim. 4:10c)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 8/11/2025 9:15 AM

My Worship Time                                                                   Focus: “Titus, The Faithful Known”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                        Reference: 2 Tim. 4:10c

Message of the verses: “Titus, to Dalmatia”

In this morning’s SD I continue to look at the ending verses of 2 Timothy as Paul is sharing things about people he knew and for the most part helped in the ministry with him.  In today’s short SD we will look at Titus to Dalmatia.

In yesterday’s SD we looked at Crescens who was unknown, and today we look at Titus, who on the other hand was both known and faithful.  Paul also had written a letter to Titus who is also in the Word of God and was written several years after he wrote 1 Timothy and about one year before he wrote this second letter to Timothy.  Now besides here and in the book that carries his name Titus is mentioned by the apostle nine times in 2 Corinthians and two times in Galatians, so as stated Titus was well known.

MacArthur writes “Paul apparently had preached in Crete during a brief layover there on his way to Rome under guard (see Acts 27:12).  At that time, he left Titus, his ‘true child in a common faith,…in Crete, that [he] might set in order what remains, and appoint elders in every city as [Paul] directed’ (Titus 1:5).

Titus was a builder and equipper, a man the apostle fully trusted to teach and pastor struggling churches.  Sometime after release from his two-year house arrest in Rome (Acts. 28:30), Paul probably went to Macedonia.  From there he went to Dalmatia (also known as Illyricum; see Rom. 15:19), which was located just north of Macedonia on the east side of the Adriatic Sea.  He then traveled south to Nicopolis, a town in the province of Achaia near the Macedonian border.  It was here that he asked Titus to meet him (Titus 3:2).  It may have been from Nicopolis that Titus went to Dalmatia, probably at the request of Paul, in order to strengthen the church there and build up its leaders.”

Spiritual Meaning for my Life Today:  I just looked at a post on Facebook that was written by a widowed friend of mine which had a great memory in it.  As I look at these last words of Paul that are found in 2 Timothy and read about those people that he knew and loved it makes me think of the memories that he had.  Today is my wife and mine 52nd wedding anniversary and this also brings back some memories for the following January 26th of 1994 I became a born-again believer in Jesus Christ, and that is the best of memories as the Lord began to work in my heart from that very day, and then in April of that year my wife became a believer.  In the years that followed we had two children who are now married and between them seven grand-children and one in heaven, and they are all believers.  God has certainly given me many wonderful memories to which I praise Him for today.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  I trust that the Lord will continue to fill our lives with things that we will look back as wonderful memories.
