SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 8/14/2025 9:52 AM
My Worship Time Focus: “Tychicus, The Faithful Messenger”
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: 2 Timothy 4:12
Message of the verse: “Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus.”
Once again I will write a very short Spiritual Diary as we continue to look at the end of 2 Timothy, which is where Paul writes about different people that he knows. Most of what he has been writing about these people is positive things with the exception of Demas, the person that is actually unclear as to whether he was a true believer or not. Now in today’s very short SD we will be looking at Tychicus and see that he is a faithful messenger serving the Lord by doing what Paul has desired for him to do, and that is he was sent to Ephesus.
John MacArthur writes that it is possible that Paul had earlier sent Tychicus to Ephesus, which was lactated in that man’s home providence of Asia as seen in Acts 20:4. “And he was accompanied by Sopater of Berea, the son of Pyrrhus, and by Aristarchus and Secundus of the Thessalonians, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus of Asia.” MacArthur then writes “Or it may be that Paul was sending him there to deliver this second letter to Timothy, just as he had used him to deliver his letters to the churches at Ephesus (Eph. 6:12) and Colossae (Col. 4:7) and perhaps to deliver the letter to Titus (see Titus 3:12). “When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, make every effort to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there.”
MacArthur ends this short section with these words: “We do not know what abilities Tychicus had, but it seems likely that the Holy Spirit had given him the gift of service (Rom. 12:7). There is no evidence that he was a teacher or pastor, but he was a valuable asset to Paul and a trusted friend.”
If my memory serves me correctly I believe that there are four chapters in the New Testament that list the different Spiritual gifts. Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4, and 1 Peter 4 is the last one. When a person becomes a believer they will receive at least one spiritual gift as it is the Holy Spirit who gives them to all who are born again. The Spiritual gift is used by the believer to bring glory to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Spiritual Meaning for My life Today: It is my desire to depend on the Holy Spirit to cause me to write my Spiritual Diaries that are first of all true, and secondly since they would be true that they would bring glory to God.
My Steps of Faith for Today: Continue to trust the Lord to work out the things that are going on in my wife’s life as she continues to have some issues from her cancer surgery on the 29th of April this year. 8/14/2025 10:20 AM
