PT-1 Christian Witness Is Through Belevers (John 15:27)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 1/7/2017 1:24 PM

My Worship Time                                                  Focus: Christian Witness Is Through Believers

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                 Reference:  John 15:27

Message of the verses:  “27 and you will testify also, because you have been with Me from the beginning.”

I think that what I am about to write is correct.  The line of witness comes from the Father, to the Son, then to the Holy Spirit, and then to the apostles, and from the apostles it goes to all believers, so when Jesus tells His disciples that they would testify also about Him then they in turn will tell others to testify about Jesus, and then since there are not more apostles believers are to testify about Jesus Christ.  Now I also want to add that there is also an order in the church as Paul speaks of in Ephesians, and that order is headed up by Pastor and teachers, but understand a Peter tells us in 1 Peter chapter five that these leaders are not to lord it over us.  “1   Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed, 2 shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; 3 nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.”  Now according to Paul these leaders which are Pastors, or Elders, of Bishops as all the words are similar, they are to preach and teach those who are in their flock.  I believe that the Holy Spirit of God will give the right Pastor to a local church, the one needed to accomplish what God wants done in that church and will also speak to the hearts of the Pastor as he studies His Word which will result in giving that Pastor the message that God wants to speak to that local church.  In then and as always, it is all about God, His purpose, and His plan so that He will receive glory which is why we are here on earth.

John MacArthur writes “Believers are the final link in the chain of witness.  Thus Jesus, after describing the Holy Spirit’s witness, told the disciples ‘you will testify also.’  The two are inseparably linked, since it is the Spirit who enables believers to effectively testify to the world about Jesus Christ.  So vital is the Spirit’s empowering of Christian witness that the Lord instructed the disciples to remain in Jerusalem until the coming of the Spirit on that day of Pentecost (Luke 24:49).  It was ‘in the power of the Spirit’ that Paul ‘fully preached the gospel of Christ’ (Rom. 5:10).”

I know that this SD is rather short, but I think it best to leave it here and look at the rest of what I want to write in our next SD.

Answer to yesterday’s Bible question:  “They let him down through the roof” (Luke 5:19).

Today’s Bible question:  “Who said ‘Silver and gold have I none:  but such as I have give I to you?’”

Answer in our next SD.
