PT-1 "Subtle Confusion" (Matt. 24:23-27)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 1/3/2024 12:52 PM

My Worship Time                                                                        Focus:  PT-1 “Subtle Confusion”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                               Reference: Matthew 24:23-27

Message of the verses:  23 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Behold, here is the

Christ,’ or ‘There He is,’ do not believe him. 24 “For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect. 25 “Behold, I have told you in advance. 26 “If therefore they say to you, ‘Behold, He is in the wilderness,’ do not go forth, or, ‘Behold, He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe them. 27 “For just as the lightning comes from the east, and flashes even to the west, so shall the coming of the Son of Man be.”

The ones that Jesus is talking about here are the ones that have heeded His advice and have fled to the mountains, out of Jerusalem.  Here they will be protected by God from harm and will also be especially vulnerable to false teaching and promises.  These people have left their homes with only the clothes on their backs, but at least they are still alive.  Possessions will not something that they are concerned at this time as they are fleeing for their lives.  Many of them will have left their family and their friends to get away from the horrors of the Antichrist.

MacArthur writes “It seems evident from Jesus’ warning here that false teachers will infiltrate the company of those who flee.  Those false teachers will be Satan’s emissaries who hope to entice Jews and believers away from their refuge and into the hands of Antichrist.  They will share his satanic desire to annihilate all Jews and all Christians.”  This section makes me think about some of those Egyptians who left Egypt and went with Israel, and they were the biggest problems for Israel.

Jesus says the following in John 8:44 “"You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”            The highlighted section is what I want to talk about as Satan from the beginning has lied and will continue to lie during the tribulation period because he knows that his time is short.  When we see the words “‘Behold, here is the

Christ,’ or ‘There He is,’ do not believe him.  He is speaking lies here and all throughout this section that we are looking at.

One more quotation from MacArthur’s commentary and I will stop for today as my wife and I are trying to get ready to leave on vacation this next Monday, and so all I can say is that these Spiritual Diaries that I put onto my blogs will be put on much later than I have been putting them on now.

“Those spurious religious leaders, the false Christs and false prophets, will even perform great signs and wonders, giving supernatural evidence to support their claims.  They will mimic their leaders, the Antichrist, who will demonstrate ‘all power and signs and false wonders’ (2 Thess. 2:9).  Those great signs and wonders will be so awesome and convincing that they would mislead, if possible, even the elect.”
