Message of the verses: “Now
on one of those days Jesus and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to
them, “Let us go over to the other side of the land.” So they launched out. But as they were sailing along He fell
asleep; and a fierce gale of wind descended on the lake, and they beg an to be
swamped and to be in danger. They came to Jesus and woke Him up, saying, “Master,
Master, we are perishing!” And He got up
and rebuked the wind and the surging waves, and they stopped, and it became
calm. And He said to them, “Where is
your faith?” They were fearful and
amazed, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that He commands even the
winds and the water, and they obeyed Him?”
This evening I begin my first
section, the introduction to chapter 22 in John MacArthurs commentary “Calm in
the Storm. I will do like I have been
doing when I come into a new chapter and that is to quote the entire
introduction, but in his introductions there are many verse references, which I
will quote them as well, and that is why it will take a while to get through
this introduction.
“God has a plan to redeem both His people
and His planet. That plan began to
unfold immediately after the fall, when God promised that a redeemer would come
who would destroy Satan (Gen. 3:15; cf. 1 John 3:8).”

“15 I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and
you shall bruise his heel."
“8 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the
devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of
God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.”
“The redeemer,
the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ, came to offer Himself as a sacrifice and ‘save
His people from their sins’ (Matt. 1:21).
He will come again in glory and majesty to destroy the wicked (Rev.
19:11-16) and rule the earth (Rev. 11:15; 20:4, 6).”

“11 ¶ Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white
horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness
he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes are
like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name

He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is
called is The Word of God. 14 And the
armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on
white horses. 15 From his mouth comes a
sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a
rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the
Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his
thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.”

“15 Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and
there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become
the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and
ever.”
4 Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were
those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of
those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God,
and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image, and had not received
its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with
Christ for a thousand years.”
“6 Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the
first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be
priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand
years.”
“He will
restore peace, justice, truth, righteousness, and joy to the renewed planet.
“Obviously, to reverse the curse on
both fallen mankind and the earth will require immense, incomprehensible,
inconceivable power. In the kingdom of
Satan and his demon hosts will be bound (Rev. 20:1-3) and the saints will reign
with Christ (vv. 4-6; Dan. 7:18, 27; 1 Cor. 6:2).”

“1 ¶ Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven,
holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. 2 And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent,
who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, 3 and threw him into the pit, and shut it and
sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until
the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little
while.”

dominions shall serve and obey him.’”
“2 Or do you not know that the saints will judge
the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try
trivial cases?”
“Sin will
be instantaneously punished (Ps. 2:9; Isa. 11:3-4), and peace (Isa. 2:4; 9:6-7;
Mic. 4:3), joy (Isa. 12:3-4), and the knowledge of God (Isa. 11:9) will
dominate the earth. Health and healing
will replace disease and death (Isa. 29:18; 33:24; 35:5-6).”

“9 You shall break them with a rod of iron and
dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel."
“3 And his delight shall be in the fear of the
LORD. He shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide disputes by what his
ears hear, 4 but with righteousness he
shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; and he
shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his
lips he shall kill the wicked.”

decide disputes for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into
plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword

called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and of

establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this
time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.”
