My Worship Time Focus: Divine Rain
Bible Reading &
Meditation Reference: Zechariah 10:1
Message of the verses: “1 Ask rain from the LORD at the time of the
spring rain-The LORD who makes the storm clouds; And He will give them showers
of rain, vegetation in the field to each man.”
“17 For
what comeliness and beauty will be theirs! Grain will make the young men flourish,
and new wine the virgins (Zech. 9:17).”
This is the last verse from chapter nine and so we will add what is said
here to what is said in verse one of chapter ten and what we see here is that
rain will be necessary to produce what is talked about in verse seventeen of
chapter nine, which is speaking of the Millennial Kingdom. Now there have been discussions as to whether
or not there will be literal rain during the Millennial Kingdom, and we have
discussed this in earlier SD’s, and have said that when Christ returns to
planet earth as described in Revelation 19 and takes care of the armies that
are fighting against each other, but when they see the Lord they will begin to
fight against Him. The Lord will defeat
this global army very fast and then according to Matthew 25 will separate the
sheep from the goats, the sheep going into the Millennial Kingdom and the goats
will go into the pit where Satan and the false prophet go. Then we have to look at Ezekiel chapters
40-48 to see that there will be a Millennial temple built along with the
rebuilding of Jerusalem which is much larger than what is there now so we know
that the Lord is going to redo planet earth, and many believe that it will be
similar to what the world was like when God first created it. Now my thoughts and they are mine, is that
when the Lord first created the earth as seen in Genesis chapters 1-2 that
there was a water vapor above the earth which stopped the suns radiation, and
this is why people lived much longer before the flood, for when the flood came
this water vapor was broken and came down on the earth. I say all of this to say that it is my belief
that there will not be another water vapor above the earth when Christ does
over planet earth after the mess that it will be left in after the tribulation
period and so I do believe that there will be rain during the Millennial
Kingdom. Now there are other prophecies
that deal with the Millennial Kingdom that speak of the desert blooming showing
that things will once again be fertile as they were before the flood. We can also look to the Millennial Kingdom as
abundant blessings from the Lord to those who will live at that time, kind of
like the song says “showers of blessings.”
MacArthur adds that the Hebrew suggests that this rain will be a gentle
rain, not like the valiant storms we see now a days.
