My Worship Time Focus: Sin Will be Removed
Bible Reading &
Meditation Reference: Zephaniah 3:11-13
Message of the verses: “11 "In that day you will feel no shame
Because of all your deeds By which you have rebelled against Me; For then I
will remove from your midst Your proud, exulting ones, And you will never again
be haughty On My holy mountain. 12 “But I will leave among you A humble and
lowly people, And they will take refuge in the name of the LORD. 13 “The
remnant of Israel will do no wrong And tell no lies, Nor will a deceitful
tongue Be found in their mouths; For they will feed and lie down With no one to
make them tremble."”
We begin
what is the last main point from the book of Zephaniah in the outline from Dr.
Wiersbe’s commentary in which he entitles this last main point “The
Remnant: God’s bounteous Blessing.” He writes the following in his introduction
to this section: “When the terrible Day
of the Lord is over, Israel will be a new nation. The Jews will look by faith upon the Messiah
whom they crucified, believe in Him, and enter into a new life in the promised
kingdom.” As we studied the last
chapters of the book of Revelation we say how this would happen.
As I look
at verse eleven I am looking forward to when this all will happen, although
this will happen a bit earlier in history for those of us who are true
believers now as this section speaks of the Millennial Kingdom while the
rapture of the church will happen before the Tribulation Period which happens
before the Millennial Kingdom, although it will only be somewhat longer than
seven years, the length of the Tribulation Period.
Dr. Wiersbe
begins his commentary on this section by writing “The Jews won’t have to be
‘put to shame’ because, when they see Christ, they will be ashamed of what they
did to the Lord and will mourn over their transgressions (Zech.
12:10-13:1).” I wish to look at these
verses at this time: “10 “I will pour
out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of
grace and of supplication, so
that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him,
as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the
bitter weeping over a firstborn. 11 “In that day there will be great
mourning in Jerusalem, like the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the plain of
Megiddo. 12 “The land will mourn, every family by itself; the family of the
house of David by itself and their wives by themselves; the family of the house
of Nathan by itself and their wives by themselves; 13 the family of the house
of Levi by itself and their wives by themselves; the family of the Shimeites by
itself and their wives by themselves; 14 all the families that remain, every
family by itself and their wives by themselves.
1"In that day a fountain will be opened for the house of David and
for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for impurity.” As we can see from these verses from
Zechariah and also Zephaniah this will be a time of deep repentance and
confession that will then lead to salvation.
We can see from the verses in Zephaniah that God will deal with the
pride of the people of Israel at this time and it is because of pride that the
people have not been able to recognize their Messiah and have turned their
backs on them for a very long time. When
the Millennial Kingdom arrives there will be no place for pride on God’s Holy
Hill.
Because at
the beginning of the Millennial Kingdom all will be believers who enter it the
people will no longer disobey God or they will not practice deception,
something that we have learned from many of the OT prophets that they had
practiced a lot. Israel will have no
more enemies when they enter into the Kingdom for King Jesus will be in charge
so there will be no more wars or fighting.
