Message of the verses: “will hear His voice, and will come forth”
This SD
will be very short as we look at the phrase that is at the end of verse 28 and
the beginning of verse 29. I will give
the quote from what John MacArthur wrote in his commentary for this
section: “Jesus did not delineate the
order of the resurrection in this passage because He was not concerned here
with chronology, but with revealing His divine power. This time the phrase ‘hear His voice’ does
not describe the effectual hearing of faith as in verse 25, but refers to the
sovereign command of Christ. At His
charge, the bodies of everyone who ever lived will come back to life. It is not wonder, then, that the apostle Paul
longed to ‘know Him and the power of His resurrection” (Phil. 3:10).”
In our last
SD I mentioned some problems with some beliefs of different believers, and I am
not going to name the different churches that are a part of what I feel is
wrong theology, but simply write the problems that I have with them. First of all, and something I have mentioned
before is that this group of believers believe that all of the promises that
God gave to the Jews are not passed on to the Church. I have mentioned in earlier SD’s that there
were different kinds of promises given to the nation of Israel, there are
conditional promises or covenants, and then there are unconditional promises or
covenants. For instance the promises
given to Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3 and then enlarged in Genesis 15 are unconditional
promises, or covenants and in this case it is called the Abrahamic
Covenant. Then again in 2 Samuel where
we find that David wants to build a temple for the Lord, but the Lord would not
allow this and so God actually promises to build a dynasty for David of which
the Messiah would come from. This too
was unconditional as Jesus was born from the line of David as both Mary and
Joseph came from that line. I am not
saying that Joseph was the father of Jesus, but was the one who cared for Him
when He was growing up as the Holy Spirit was the One who impregnated Mary. In the book of Deuteronomy chapter 28 we see
what is called a conditional covenant, in other words if Israel would obey God
they would receive blessings and if they did not curses would be given to them
and so when the patience of the Lord ran out He had both the Northern and
Southern Kingdom destroyed, but this was not the end of Israel, for He brought
a remnant back to Israel after serving the King of Babylon for 70 years. The unconditional covenant given to Israel
through Abraham is still in effect and all the promises that have not been
fulfilled in it will one day be fulfilled, so as far as the promises of Israel
being given to the church, that is wrong theology. I have also stated before that I believe that
Satan has been involved in making this wrong theology for if the church thinks
that the promises of Israel are given to the them then they can go against
Israel, which is what some of them are doing.
Another flaw in their theology is what happens in the end times, and as
we have been looking at in the resurrection of the dead. I have stated this earlier, but worth
repeating, and that is that first Christ was risen from the dead, and next the
believers in the church will be raised or if alive will go in the Rapture of
the Church. At the end of the
tribulation those saints will be raised along with the OT saints. At the end of the Millennial Kingdom if any
believers actually die, and there is a disagreement as to whether or not there
will be any who die, then they will be raised, and along with this all
unbelievers will be raised and go before the Lord at the Great White Throne
Judgment, and that is the end of resurrections according to the Word of God.
