PT-5 The Coronation of the King (Zechariah 6:15a and b)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 7/2/2016 7:37 PM

My Worship Time                                                           Focus:  PT-5 The Coronation of the King

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  Zechariah 6:15-

Message of the verses:  Now since we have looked at verses nine through fifteen in our last several Spiritual Diaries on this subject I will not put them all in this SD, but only the ones that pertain to this lesson.  Now just a little review, and that is we have been looking at chapter six for several days, perhaps weeks now and we stated that there were two points in them, the first one “The condemnation of the nations” was seen in verses 1-8 and then the second main point “The Coronation of the King” in verses 9-15.  We have been looking at eight elements or things that are said about Jesus Christ in this section and in today’s SD we will begin with number six and this is found in verse fifteen “"Those who are far off will come and build the temple of the LORD." Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. And it will take place if you completely obey the LORD your God.”  Our sixth point is seen in this highlighted portion of verse fifteen.

The question is who are those who are “far off,”? and the answer would be “The Gentiles” as seen in section of Ephesians and also Romans as a Gentile to a Jew is far off, and through Christ those who are far off have now come near.  We are talking about who is going to build the temple here, and the temple which is being spoken of here is the millennial temple, but we thought that it would be Christ who would build this temple as we spoke of before.  John MacArthur writes that the Gentiles “will come and make a contribution in it.  And it says here that in the kingdom there will be a delegation of Gentiles worshipping the true God.  There will be a people who were a no people who will become God’s people in God’s kingdom.  In Isaiah 2 and verse 2 it says ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days that the mountain of the Lord…shall be established in the top of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills and all nations shall flow unto it.  All nations!  ‘And may people shall go and say ‘Come ye and let us go to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, and He will teach us His ways and we will walk in His paths…’  Many nations in the kingdom coming into the presence and the true worship of the one true God, and so Christ will be worshipped by nations from all over the world.  In Micah 4:1, ‘…in the last days it shall come to pass’ …almost the same statement…’the mountain of the house of the Lord…be established in the top of the mountains…be exalted above the hills and people shall flow unto it and many nations shall come and say, ‘Come and let us go…to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob and He will teach us His ways and we will walk in His paths…’  Gentiles will come in that day to worship God.”  So it looks like to me that the Gentiles will contribute to the temple Christ builds and the Gentiles will come and worship the Lord there in His temple in the millennial kingdom.

Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you,” is from the next section of verse fifteen and we will now look at it.  What we see here is a prophecy of what will happen in the millennial kingdom and when it happens people will “know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you.”  I have mentioned a pet peeve of mine in several recent Spiritual Diaries and that is that there are those who believe that there will not be a millennial kingdom and they also believe that the promises the pertain to Israel in the Old Testament now pertain to the church, and that everything will just get better and better so that Christ will want to come back to earth.  I guess they haven’t looked at the news, for what is going on in our world is not getting better.  In fact in the eschatology of the Muslim’s they believe that they have to make things get so bad that the 12th Inman will return to make things better, so they are trying their best to make things worse and are doing a good job at it.  Another thing is that in May of 1948 Israel became a nation and many of us believe that even though they don’t realize it they are preparing the way for the return of their Messiah, the Messiah they don’t believe in.  So Zechariah is saying in this highlighted statement we are looking at when Christ returns it will happen just like I said it would.

We will look at the last part of this verse in our next SD.
