EVENING SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 11/12-2025 6:25 PM
My Worship Time Focus: PT-5 “God’s Supernatural Revelation”
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: 2 Peter 1:19-21
Message of the verses: “19 So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. 20 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, 21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.”
I begin this evening by seeing what John MacArthur has to say about the words “Morning star (phosphoros), which literally means ‘light bringer,’ was the name for the planet Venus, which precedes the morning sun in the sky, and is used here for Christ, whose coming inaugurates the promised millennial kingdom and the establishment of His kingdom. Scripture in several laces refers to Christ as a star (Num. 24:17; Rev. 2:28; 22:16; cf. Matt. 2:2.” Now I think that paragraph is very interesting and therefore I will quote the verses that he mentions above in the order they are mentioned.
“17 "I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near; A star shall come forth from Jacob, A scepter shall rise from Israel, And shall crush through the forehead of Moab, And tear down all the sons of Sheth.
“28 and I will give him the morning star.
16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star."
“2 “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him."
MacArthur continues “Peter adds the fact that the star arises in believers’ hearts. Christ will return in a blasé of physically visible, all-encompassing light that will affect everyone for believers or cursing and change the millennial earth (3:10-13), eventually destroying the universe and replacing it with the new heavens and the new earth (Rev. 20:11; 21:1).” Again let us look at all these verses beginning with 2 Peter 3:10-13:
“10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up 11 Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! 13 But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.
“11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them.
1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.
He goes on to write “The reference to the hearts indicates His return will also transform believers into perfect reflections of the truth and righteousness of Christ and make them into the image of His glory (Rom. 8:29; Phil.3:20-21; 1 John 3:1-2).” Now we will look at these verses, and I know that we will not get too far into these verses from 2 Peter this evening, but I think that it warrants us to look at this verses.
29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;
20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; 21 who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.
1 See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.
MacArthur concludes this paragraph, which will finish my SD for this evening: “At His second coming, Christ will replace the perfect temporal revelation of Scripture with the perfect eternal revelation of His person. He will fulfill the written Word and write it forever on the hearts of the glorified saints.”
Let me remind you of how I have been taught about things will happen in the end times. First will come the rapture of the Church, where Christ comes in the clouds to call the Church saints to Him, both dead and alive. Next shortly after this event comes the seven year Tribulation period which actually is the last seven years of Daniels prophecy that is found in the 9th chapter of Daniel. Revelation 19, in the middle shows the return of Jesus Christ to planet earth and shortly after that the millennial kingdom will begin. After the 1000 years the Lord will judge all the unbelievers and send them into hell. Next He will create a New Heaven and a new earth, and as Peter tells us in 2 Peter 3 this earth and all the planets will be destroyed by fire, and this happens right before all believers of all ages will come into the New Heaven and earth.
