“Their Success” (2 Peter 2:2a)

EVENING SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 11/26/2025 7:00 PM

My Worship Time                                                                                        Focus: “Their Success”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                                  Reference: (2 Peter 2:2a)

Message of the verses: “Many will follow”

I mentioned in my last evening SD that since I have finished the long portion of this section that I will begin with this evening, and it will be a very short SD.

Now the Bible is clear that many will more people follow the broad way that leads to destruction than adhere to the narrow way that leads to live and we will now look at several verses in Matthew chapter seven that shows this truth.

13 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it” (Matthew 7:13).

10 “At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. 11 “Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. 12 “Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold (Matt. 24:10-12).

Now in part, credit is due to the false teachers for the popularity of the “wide road,’ as they usher people onto the broad way and then encourage them not to look back.  You know as I have mentioned that every human being is born with an “old nature,” and so when these false teachers preach false things this attacks’ this old nature and so it is no problem for them to follow it.  Their message of independence, personal freedom, and self-exaltation is inherently appealing to fallen human hearts, who would rather serve themselves than submit to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Now in the Lord’s Sermon on the Mount, Jesus declared, not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter” (Matthew 7:21).  Superficial, insincere claims to be followers of Christ are meaningless; only those who fully submit to His lordship and obey His will demonstrate that they truly belong to Him.  Now we will look at a series of verses which speaks to this:

“14 "You are My friends if you do what I command you. 15 “No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16 “You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you (John 15:14-16)”.

“22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; 24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. 25  But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does” (James 1:22-25).

“3 By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5  but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: 6 the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked” (1 John 2:3-6).

“1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith. 5 Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? (1 John 5:1-5)
