Message of the verses: “10 "Sing for joy and be glad, O
daughter of Zion; for behold I
am coming and I
will dwell in your midst," declares the LORD. 11 “Many nations will join
themselves to the LORD in that day and will become My people. Then I will dwell
in your midst, and you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you. 12
“The LORD will possess Judah as His portion in the holy land, and will again
choose Jerusalem. 13 “Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD; for He is aroused
from His holy habitation."”
Here is a
short review of what we have been looking at from MacArthur’s sermon: “So what do you see? The design proposed, a new city with great
dimensions, the destined plan. It’s
going to overflow. The divine
protector: God will be the wall and He
will be in the middle of it. The
delivered people: Israel will be
delivered from all their enemies to rejoice in joy and the destroyed
powers: God will come and judgment
against the nations that have rejected Him and His people. And the only possible response to that I call
the delightful prospect. Verse 10, what
else? Sing and what, rejoice. What else for this few huddled in the valley
of Hennin hoping something will work for them for a change.” So we see singing and rejoicing in verse ten
and the reason is because of what God says that He will do. Notice the “I’s” in that verse indicating what
the Lord is going to do for Israel. Not
only is God coming but He will dwell in their midst in the person of the Lord
Jesus Christ, and for 1,000 years as He rules from Jerusalem. Yes this is something to sing and rejoice
over don’t you think?
We will now
look briefly at four things or reasons to delight in and the first one we have
already wrote about, that of Jesus Christ coming to them, and to dwell with them. The next thing for God’s people to rejoice
over is that Israel will not be the only nation there, but many nations will be
represented there. There is going to be
a worldwide salvation coming. This is
seen from verse eleven. Verse 12 tells
us the last thing to rejoice over is that it will be Israel who is the channel
of salvation for the world. The church
has worked hard at making sure that a remnant of the Jews will be saved, and
now in the Millennial kingdom it will be Israel telling the nations how they
can be saved. Let us briefly look at
verse twelve ““The LORD will possess Judah as His portion in the holy land, and will
again choose Jerusalem.” Notice the
highlighted part of this verse says the holy land and this is the only
reference in Scripture where it is called that.
Now we may say when a person is going to visit Israel that they are
going to the Holy Land for a visit, but it will not be that until the Lord
returns to rule from there.
Next if God wills we will begin to look at the next vision,
which is seen in chapter three.
