PT-1 of 2nd Introduction to Zechariah chapter Five

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 6/13/2016 8:00 PM

My Worship Time                                                                  Focus:  2nd Introduction to Zech. 5

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  Zechariah 5

Message of the verses:  We have looked at Zechariah chapter five a few days ago and one of the things that we saw is that God will judge sin and so as we think about God judging sin we sometimes wonder when this will happen.  Let me tell you we are not the only ones who wonder when God will judge sin.  The first thing we need to remember is that the Bible teaches us that God is holy as this is one of His attributes and when we think about God being holy we know that all of God’s attributes are holy.  In the Sunday school class that I am beginning to teach I have learned that God’s glory is the sum total of His attributes, and when we think about His attributes we have to realize that that is who God is so when we think of God being holy we sometimes wonder when He is going to stop putting up with sin and judge sin.  As I said we are not the only ones who have asked this question.  Let us look at a few verses to see that others have questioned when God will judge sin:  “For I was envious of the arrogant As I saw the prosperity of the wicked (Ps. 73:3).”  “Righteous are You, O LORD, that I would plead my case with You; Indeed I would discuss matters of justice with You: Why has the way of the wicked prospered? Why are all those who deal in treachery at ease? (Jer. 12:1).”  Revelation 6:9-10 “9  When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained; 10  and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, "How long, O Lord, holy and true, will You refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who dwell on the earth?"”  John MacArthur adds as he talks about God “I know your character is that, which is abhorring sin, but in practice it seems as though you’re tolerant of it.  It’s a fair question.  It’s a question that’s been asked many times since and is being asked today even by Christians who seem to have trouble and struggle and anguish in their own life and they look about them and they see that the ungodly who seem to be so very prosperous.”  Did you ever think you would see the day when we have someone running for President who should in fact be in prison?  Yes the wicked do prosper, but one day as we will learn from this chapter in Zechariah all wrongs will be made right for judgment is coming. Psalm 50:3 says “May our God come and not keep silence; Fire devours before Him, And it is very tempestuous around Him.”  Next we look at 50:21 “"These things you have done and I kept silence; You thought that I was just like you; I will reprove you and state the case in order before your eyes.”  “1 The LORD reigns, let the earth rejoice; Let the many islands be glad. 2 Clouds and thick darkness surround Him; Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. 3 Fire goes before Him And burns up His adversaries round about. 4 His lightnings lit up the world; The earth saw and trembled. 5 The mountains melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. 6 The heavens declare His righteousness, And all the peoples have seen His glory. 7 Let all those be ashamed who serve graven images, Who boast themselves of idols; Worship Him, all you gods.”  “12 Be glad in the LORD, you righteous ones, And give thanks to His holy name (Psalm 97:1-7, 12).”

Ok we will stop here and in our next SD we will look at several quotes from John MacArthur’s sermon on Zechariah chapter five entitled “The End of Sinners and Sin,” as we continue then on this introduction to Zechariah chapter five, a very important chapter.
