SPIRITUAL DAIRY FOR 6/5/2016 4:55 PM
My Worship Time Focus: The Announcement
Bible Reading &
Meditation Reference: John 8:21
Message of the verses: “21 Then He said again to them, "I go
away, and you will seek Me, and will die in your sin; where I am going, you
cannot come.’”
In Today’s
SD we will look at the very short section that comes from verse 21 and this is
the last section from “Jesus the Light of the World.” John MacArthur only has one short paragraph
for this section and so I think that I will quote it for our Spiritual Diary
this day.
“In 7:33-34
Jesus had warned the crowd, ‘For a little while longer I am with you, then I go
to Him who sent Me, You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you
cannot come.’ Here He said again that He
would go away (a reference to His impending death, resurrection, and ascension
to the Father). But this time the Lord
added the warning that those who reject Him will die in their sin and not be
with Him in the Father’s presence in the glory of heaven. Later in this dialogue He would repeat that
warning in even stronger terms (v. 24).
The reality of this sobering truth, which is repeated throughout
Scripture, is that those who reject Christ will suffer the consequences of
their sin—eternal separation from God.
By refusing the Light of the world, they doom themselves to eternal
darkness of hell (Matt. 8:12; 22:13; 25:30).”
As we read
these sobering words from our Lord Jesus Christ we must humble ourselves and if
one has not accepted His forgiveness of sin that He paid for on the cross that
would be the thing to do at this time, otherwise as Jesus tells us here “where
I am going, you cannot come.”
Answer to yesterday’s Bible question: “Locusts and wild honey” (Mark 1:6).
Today’s Bible question:
“What did Jesus advise if one looks upon a woman to lust after her?”
Answer in our next SD.
