PT-1 “The God of Impeccable Justice” (Nahum 1:7-8)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 12/26/2025 9:52 AM

My Worship Time                                                 Focus:  PT-1 “The God of Impeccable Justice”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                                  Reference:  Nahum 1:7-8

Message of the verses:  7    ט‎ The LORD is good,  A stronghold in a day of trouble;  י‎ And he knows those who trust in him.  8   But with an overflowing flood  כ‎ He will make an utter end of its place,  And darkness will pursue his enemies.

Theis day after Christmas, 2025 morning I begin a new section from the commentary of John MacArthur’s book on Nahum.  I am getting a great deal of help in order to get my regular Online Bible program onto my new laptop, thanks to the owner of the Online Bible program and my son-in-law, and when that happens I believe that it will make my study of the Bible much easier.  This morning I will continue to quote from John MacArthur’s commentary, adding my comments and also the Bible quotes that he mentions, that is most of them as the very long ones I will not quote.  I pray that the Lord will continue to use the Spiritual Diaries that I write as He continues to send them around the world each and every day through the two blogs that I put them on. PTL.

“In introducing God’s justice, Nahum proclaimed that Yahweh is good, doing what is right, kind, and even beneficial to others.  The psalmist recounted that God is good and does good in that He forgives sins, heals sickness, redeems life from the pit, and demonstrates patience (Ps. 119:68; cf. Ps. 103:1-5).”

“68 ¶   You are good, and do good;  Teach me your statutes.”

“1 ¶  «A Psalm of David.» Bless the LORD, oh my soul,  And all that is within me, bless his holy name! 2  Bless the LORD, oh my soul,  And do not forget all his benefits: 3  Who forgives all your iniquities,  Who heals all your diseases, 4  Who redeems your life from destruction,  Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, 5  Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

“Psalm 136 mentions that God’s goodness is seen in numerous ways, including His work of creation, His deliverance of Israel from Egypt, His guidance of the people through the wilderness, His giving of the Promised Land to them, and His provisions of food to meet their daily needs, God’s abundant goodness is seen in both everyday matters and dramatic deliverances.  Most of all, it is manifested in the gift of His Son through whom sinners might have eternal salvation.”  I just looked up Psalm 136, and it has 26 verses in it, and so perhaps at the end of this SD I will quote that Psalm.

“In highlighting God’s goodness, Nahum emphasized that Yahweh is a strong defense in the day of distress.  The word strong defense often refers to a heavily fortified location (cf. Isa. 17:9; 23:13-14), one completely secure against enemy assault.”

9 ¶   On that day his strong cities will be  As a forsaken bough and an uppermost branch,  Which they left  Because of the children of Israel,  And there will be desolation.”

“13  Behold, the land of the Chaldeans,  These people who were not;  Until Assyria founded it for those who live in the wilderness.  They set up its towers,  They raised up its palaces,  And he brought it to ruin. 14  Wail, you ships of Tarshish.  For your strength is laid waste.”

“God is such a defense for His people.  He provides perfect peace and security in the day of distress, when His people find themselves in dismay or surrounded by danger.  The Lord not only protects His own (cf. 62:1-3) but knows who take refuge in Him.”

1 ¶  For Zion’s sake I shall not hold my peace,  And for Jerusalem’s sake, I shall not rest,  Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness,  And her salvation as a lamp burns. 2  And the Gentiles will see your righteousness,  And all the kings your glory.  And you will be called by a new name,  Which the mouth of the LORD will name. 3  You will also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD,  And a royal diadem in the hand of your God.”

“To know someone is to enjoy intimate fellowship with that person (cf. Gen. 4:1; Exod. 2:25), and the Lord knows by name those who take refuge in Him (cf. John 10:14; 2 Tim. 2:19; Rev. 21:27).”

“1 ¶  And Adam knew his wife, Eve, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, “I have gotten a man from the LORD.’”

“25  And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God acknowledged them.”

“14  I am the good shepherd, and I know my sheep and am known by mine.”

“19 ¶  Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands sure, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.’”

“27  And anyone who defiles, or practices abomination or a lie will by no means enter it, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.”

“All those who run to the Lord for safety, placing their full trust in Him (cf. Ps. 2:12; 7:1; 16:1; 17:7; 18:3, 30: 25:20; 31:2), will find Him eager to welcome and care for them (cf. John 6:37; Heb. 4:14-16).”

Now I will copy and paste these verses in the order seen above, and then I will, once that is done quote Psalm 136, and that will end this SD.

“12  Kiss the Son,  Lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,  When his wrath is kindled only a little.  Oh the blessings of all those who put their trust in him.”

1 ¶  «A Shiggaion of David which he sang to the LORD concerning the words of Cush, the Benjamite.» (7:2) Oh LORD my God, I put my trust in you;  Save me from all my persecutors,  And deliver me,”

“1 ¶  «A Michtam of David.» Preserve me, oh God,  For I put my trust in you.”

“7  Show marvelously your lovingkindness,  Oh Savior of those who trust in you, From those who rise up at your right hand.”

3  (18:4) I shall call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised;  So I shall be saved from my enemies.”

“30  (18:31) As for God, his way is perfect;  The word of the LORD is proven;  He is a shield for all who trust in him.”

“20   ש‎ Keep my soul, and deliver me;  Do not let me be ashamed, for I put my trust in you.”

“2  (31:3) Bow down your ear to me,  Deliver me speedily;  Be my rock of refuge,  A strong fortress to save me.”

Now I move to the next set of verses.

“37  All that the Father gives me will come to me, and I shall by no means cast out him who comes to me.”

“14  Therefore, since we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firm our confession. 15  For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was tempted in all points as we are, yet without sin. 16  Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

I mentioned that I would quote Psalm 136, which has 26 verses in it, and so I will do that and that will make this SD very long, but if you desire to read it all, then God Bless You!

“1 ¶  Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for he is good,  For his mercy endures for ever. 2  Oh, give thanks to the God of gods,  For his mercy endures for ever. 3  Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords,  For his mercy endures for ever: 4  To him who alone does great wonders,  For his mercy endures for ever; 5  To him who by wisdom made the heavens,  For his mercy endures for ever; 6  To him who stretches out the earth above the waters,  For his mercy endures for ever; 7  To him who made great lights,  For his mercy endures for ever. 8  The sun to rule by day,  For his mercy endures for ever; 9  The moon and stars to rule by night,  For his mercy endures for ever.

10 ¶  To him who struck Egypt in their firstborn,  For his mercy endures for ever; 11  And brought out Israel from among them,  For his mercy endures for ever; 12  With a strong hand and with an outstretched arm,  For his mercy endures for ever. 13  To him who divided the Red Sea into parts,  For his mercy endures for ever; 14  And made Israel to pass through the midst of it,  For his mercy endures for ever; 15  And overthrew Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea,  For his mercy endures for ever. 16  To him who led his people through the wilderness,  For his mercy endures for ever. 17  To him who struck down great kings,  For his mercy endures for ever; 18  And killed famous kings,  For his mercy endures for ever: 19  Sihon the king of the Amorites,  For his mercy endures for ever; 20  And Og the king of Bashan,  For his mercy endures for ever; 21  And gave their land for an inheritance,  For his mercy endures for ever; 22  Even an inheritance to his servant Israel,  For his mercy endures for ever.

23 ¶  Who remembered us in our lowly state,  For his mercy endures for ever; 24  And redeemed us from our enemies,  For his mercy endures for ever. 25  Who gives food to all flesh,  For his mercy endures for ever. 26  Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven,  For his mercy endures for ever.”

It is my hope and prayer that all who have been reading these Spiritual Diaries that they had a Christ filled Christmas, and are now ready to soon be ready for 2026, perhaps the year that we will all go to heaven in the greatest event of our lives, the Rapture.  12/26/2025 10:51 AM
