The Arguments Against the Second Coming (2 Peter 3:3-4)

EVENING SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 12/31/2025 6:37 PM

My Worship Time                                         Focus:  The Arguments Against the Second Coming

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                                  Reference:  2 Peter 3:3-4

Message of the verses:  “3 ¶  knowing this first, that scoffers will come in the last days, walking after their own lusts, 4  and saying, “Where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.’”

What we are looking at here is a main point, which will have sub-points after it, which I will begin tomorrow.  This will be the last SD for the year 2025, as tomorrow is January 1, 2026, and we begin a new year with more Spiritual Diaries to write and to be looked at.

“In their brazen rejection of Christ’s return, the false teachers of Peter’s day began by denying the Word of God.  Although they recognized the promise of His coming, they simply discounted it as false.  Instead of submitting to God’s self-revelation, the false teachers flatly rejected the reality of Jesus’ second coming—simultaneous, and to their own sinful satisfaction, disregarding any thought of future accountability (cf. 1 Peter 5:1-4).”

(cf. 1 Peter 5:1-4)

“1 ¶  The elders who are among you I exhort, who am also an elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed: 2  Feed the flock of God which is among you, exercising oversight not by constraint but willingly, not for base gain but eagerly; 3  nor as being lords over the inheritance of God, but being examples to the flock. 4  And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of glory that does not fade away.”

“As a result, they ridiculed those who were righteous, flaunted their own immorality, and foolishly clung to a uniformitarian worldview.  The apostle addressed each of these three factors (their ridicule, immorality, and uniformitarian worldview) for his readers as he unmasked the true motivation of the false teachers’ hearts.”

I have mentioned in earlier SD’s how I came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord.  I have to say that the Holy Spirit of God woke me up (so to speak) by using the teaching of the second coming of Jesus Christ through a series of cassette tapes entitled “Two Years After The Late Great Planet Earth, spoken by Hal Lindsey, the man who wrote “The Late Great Planet Earth.”  I have to say that this was all that I studied for a while, and after becoming a believer the first book from the Bible that I read was the book of Revelation, something that I would not advise anyone to do.  God has been patient with me as I, like all believers have spiritual ups and downs.  I am trying to be faithful to what I believe he is calling me to do, which is studying the Word of God and then writing Spiritual Diaries which by the grace of God and through the Holy Spirit of God sends them around the world each day.

Tomorrow, Lord willing we will begin to look at 2 Peter 3:3a under the heading of “Ridicule.”

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL THOSE WHO READ MY SPIRITUAL DIARIES.
