Israel will be Saved from the Devastation of Slaughter (Zech. 13:8-9)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 10/29/2016 7:57 AM

My Worship Time                              Focus:  Israel to be saved from the devastation of slaughter

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  Zechariah 13:8-9

Message of the verses:  “8 “It will come about in all the land," Declares the LORD, "That two parts in it will be cut off and perish; But the third will be left in it. 9 “And I will bring the third part through the fire, Refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them; I will say, ’They are My people,’ And they will say, ’The LORD is my God.’"”

I think in many ways that this is a very two very sad verses for this will take place during the worst time that will ever take place on planet earth and Jesus said of this time that if He did not return that no life would be left on planet earth.  We of course speak of the tribulation period which is spoken of in Revelation chapters 6-19, and many other places in both the Old Testament and the New Testament.  It is a seven year period of time that takes place after the Rapture of the church when God once again is dealing with His people Israel.

These verses in Zechariah speak of two out of three Jewish people losing their lives and the one third being saved but will go through a time of refinement.  We have written about how the Jewish people have been the most persecuted people ever to live on planet earth.  I mentioned the Movie “Fiddler on the Roof” as an example of this persecution that has taken place and is still taking place today even today, but it will be far greater during the tribulation period.  I have also mentioned that once the tribulation period begins that 3/4th of the people who are alive on planet earth at that time will be killed during this awful time, and now we see that two thirds of the Jewish people will be killed.  I once heard a Bible speaker talk about the great earthquake that will take place in Jerusalem during the tribulation period as seen in Revelation 11 where it records that 7,000 people will die and the rest of the Jews will give glory to God as they finally see the truth of their Messiah being Jesus Christ and fulfill what Paul writes about them in the book of Romans where he wrote “all Israel will be saved.”

I truly believe that this one third will be the remnant of Jewish people who will be going into the Millennial Kingdom.  John MacArthur quotes Isaiah who says “Shall the ransomed of the Lord return and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy on their heads.  They shall obtain joy and gladness and sorrow and sighting shall flee away.”

He goes on to conclude his sermon on this 13th chapter Zechariah by saying “Beloved, I would say this in closing. God is a God of forgiveness. God will forgive His people Israel even though they were a part of those that killed His Son. God will forgive you because that's His nature. Who is a pardoning God like that? Do you know any other? Do you know any other God on the face of this earth who pardons and forgives those who kill Him? No other God, so pardoning. And because we are the sinners we are, we cannot tolerate a God less than that because only He can take away our sin.

“The fountain is open for you. No need to wait. Some people of Israel may wait too long. They may be in the slaughter of Armageddon and never get to the fountain that's opened at the end. Don't you wait!”
