The Land will be Healed (Zech. 14:8)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 10/5/2016 11:41 PM

My Worship Time                                                                        Focus:  The Land will be Healed

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                 Reference:  Zech. 14:8

Message of the verses:  “8 And in that day living waters will flow out of Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea and the other half toward the western sea; it will be in summer as well as in winter.”

In this SD we will beginning the last main point, “The Lord Reigns over all the Earth,” from the commentary of Dr. Warren Wiersbe, as this last main point will conclude his commentary.  He writes the following introduction to this last main point:  “And the Lord shall be king over all the earth; in that day shall there be one Lord, and His name one’ (v. 9).  After the nations have been punished and Israel has been purified, the Lord will establish His righteous kingdom and reign on David’s throne (Luke 1:32-33; Rev. 17:14; 19:16).  His reign will be universal (‘over all the earth’), He will be the only God worshiped, and His name will be the only name honored.  (See Ps. 72; Jer. 30:7-9.)  What will happen when the King reigns supremely?”

The first thing we will see happen is that the land will be healed and this is from our verse for today’s SD, (v. 8).

We have mentioned in earlier SD’s that Jerusalem is the only great city of antiquity that was not built near a large river, however during the Kingdom Age, a river of “living waters” will flow from Jerusalem and bring healing and fertility to the land.  When we studied the book of Ezekiel chapter 47:1-12 we saw more about this river along with Joel 3:18 too.  We see that the river is divided so half goes toward the Dead Sea and half toward the Mediterranean Sea which is described in our verse as the western sea and the eastern sea.  The dead sea will be rescued at this time when this river flows out of Jerusalem, and that will be good news for the nation of Israel.
