PT-1 “A Prophetic Judgment” (Nahum 2:1-7)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 1/14/2026 10:04 AM

My Worship Time                                                               Focus:  PT-1 “A Prophetic Judgment”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                                 Reference:  Nahum 2:1-7

Message of the verse: “The one who scatters has come up against you.  Guard the fortification, watch the road; Strengthen your loins, instill your power with exceeding courage.  For Yahweh will restore the majesty of Jacob Like the majesty of Israel, Even though those who empty them have emptied them to destruction And ruined their vine branches.  The shields of his mighty men are colored red, The valiant men are dressed in scarlet, The chariots are enveloped in flashing steel When he is set up to march, And the cypress spears are brandished.  The chariots race madly in the streets; They rush wildly in the squares; Their appearance is like torches; They dash to and fro like lightning flashes.  He remembers his mighty ones; They stumble in their march; They hurry to her wall, And the mantelet is set up.  The gates of the rivers are opened, And the palace is melted away.  So it stands fixed:  She is exiled, she is carried away,  And her maidservants are moaning like the sound of doves, Beating on their hearts.”

This morning I begin a new chapter in the book of Nahum, chapter two, and I will continue to quote from MacArthur’s commentary along with my comments and also adding most, if not all of his verse notations.  I have to say that this little book of Nahum has some wonderful things in it and I am learning much from it, and pray that all who read these Spiritual Diaries are will do likewise.

“The Word of God is more certain than any human experience.  As the Apostle Peter declared, ‘We have as more sure the prophetic word, to which you do will to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place’ (2 Peter 1:19a; cf. Ps. 119:105).”

Psalm 119:105

“105 ¶    נ‎ Your word is a lamp to my feet  And a light to my path.”

“Peter emphasized this truth  about Scripture after recounting his experience at the Transfiguration (cf. Matt. 17:1-8; Mark 9:2-13; Luke 9:28-36).”  Now I will just use the quotation from the book of Matthew as all these verses are similar.

(Matt. 17:1-8)

“1 ¶  And after six days Jesus took with him Peter, and James, and John his brother, and brought them up into a high mountain apart, 2  and he was transfigured before them. And his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as the light. 3  And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with him. 4  Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here: if you wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5  While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear him.” 6  And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. 7  And Jesus came and touched them and said, “Arise, and do not be afraid.” 8  And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man but Jesus only.”

“Though Peter vividly recalled that unforgettable event, he understood that God’s Word is more sure than even the most sublime experience.”  The more that I read and study about the Apostle Peter the more respect I have for him, and I guess that Peter did things in his life that I sometimes do too.

Now today I am at the place where my wife gets her infusions for cancer treatment and so I am trying to write this SD in her room, and so I will continue this section, the introduction to this second chapter of Nahum in tomorrow’s SD.

Spiritual Meaning for My life Today:  As I think about the life of the Apostle Peter I know that I can learn many things, and as mentioned there are certain things in his life that go along with the things I do in my life.  One of those things is being in a hurry.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  Trusting the Lord for this treatment to be successful in dealing with Sandy’s cancer. Learning to slow down and trust the Lord for each thing that I do.
