PT-2 “The Place of Judgment” (Nahum 2:6)

MORNING SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 1/23/2026 9:09 AM

My Worship Time                                                              Focus:  PT-2 “The Place of Judgment”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                                     Reference:  Nahum 2:6

Message of the verse: “The gates of the rivers are opened, and the palace is melted away.”

This will be a rather short SD this morning, and I will pick up where I ended up yesterday morning as John MacArthur writes “Ancient records report that Nineveh’s demise came to pass as the prophet foretold:

“The Assyrian and Babylonian records are silent with regard of the fall of the city, but Alexander Polyhistor, Abydenus and Syncellus all speak of it.  The best account, however, is that of Diodorus Siculus, who refers to a legend that the city could not be taken until the river became its enemy.  Arbaces, the Scythian, besieged it, but could not make an impression on it for 2 years.  In the 3rd year, however, the river (according to Commander Jones, not the Tigris, but the Knost), being swollen by rains, and very rapid in its current, carried away a portion of the wall, and by this opening the besiegers gained entrance.  (T. G. Pinches, ‘Nineveh,’ International Standard Bible Encyclopedia (Chicago Howard-Severance, 1915), 4:2151.)

“The fulfillment of Nahum’s prophecy, delivered about forty years before it occurred, is compelling evidence that God’s Word is infallible and inerrant.  Because God sovereignly predetermines the future, He predicts it with flawless precision.  His Word is always true and His promises certain.  Nahum’s’ prophecy of Nineveh’s demise intended to encourage the ancient Israelites (Nah. 1:15; 2:1-2), especially those who saw his prediction come to pass four decades after they were issued.”

(Nah. 1:15; 2:1-2)

15  Behold, upon the mountains, the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace! Keep your feasts, O Judah; fulfill your vows, for never again shall the worthless pass through you; he is utterly cut off.”

“1 ¶  The scatterer has come up against you. Man the ramparts; watch the road; dress for battle; collect all your strength.”

“For believers in any age, these fulfilled prophecies serve as evidence that God is always faithful to keep His promises to His people (see discussion on 1:15).”

Now as far as looking at the discussion on 1:15 I have written five Spiritual Diaries on that verse beginning on January 9, 2026 and going to January 13, 2026.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Knowing this truth “Because God sovereignly predetermines the future, He predicts it with flawless precision” gives great confidence to me that God is always in control of my life, especially in the difficult times.  I remember writing about a story that had to do with a picture in it, it was something like steps of a persons life.  The story goes (I Hope) that a person after he went to heaven say pictures of his steps but they had gaps in them.  He then asked God why were You not with me in those difficult times in my life, as there were not steps during that time.  The Lord told this person “I carried you through those difficult times.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  I am praying that God is carrying both my wife and me through these difficult times as we are dealing with her cancer.

From Dr. David Jerimah’s Words of Wisdom:  “Never dig up in unbelief what you have sown in Faith.” (Gordon Lindsay)

“Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24)
