PT-4“Judgment Affirms God’s Prophecies” (Nahum 1:15)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 1/12/2026 9:52 AM

My Worship Time                                        Focus:  PT-4“Judgment Affirms God’s Prophecies”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                                   Reference:  Nahum 1:15

Message of the verse:  “15 Behold, upon the mountains  The feet of him who brings good news,  Who proclaims peace!  Oh Judah, keep your feasts,  Perform your vows.  For no more  Will the wicked man pass through you;  He is utterly cut off.”

“Behold, on the mountains the feet of him who proclaims good news, Who announce peace! Celebrate your feasts, O Judah; Pay your vows.  For never again will the vile one pass through you;  He is cut off completely.” (NASB)

I did not get too far in yesterday mornings SD, and I hope that I can get a little more done in looking at this verse this morning.

“As pilgrimage feasts, these three festivals were the major events of Israel’s yearly calendar that the people would observe to commemorate God’s deliverance.  They worshiped the Lord for His past redemption of Israel from Egypt and the wilderness (cf. Exodus 12:14; 13:3; Deut. 16:1-8; 2 Kings 23:21-23; 2 Chronicles 35:1-19; Ezra 6:19-21), His present provision of food (cf. Exodus 34:22; Deut. 16:9-12), and His future salvation and restoration of the nation (cf. Deut. 16:13-15; Zech 14:16-19).”  I will now look at these three series of verses in the order they are mentioned above, but will skip the very long sections.

(cf. Exodus 12:14; 13:3; Deut. 16:1-8; 2 Kings 23:21-23; Ezra 6:19-21)

“14  And this day shall be for you a memorial, and you shall keep it as a feast to the LORD throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an ordinance for ever.”

“3  And Moses said to the people, “Remember this day when you went out of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out of this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten.”

“1 ¶  “Observe the month of Abib, and keep the Passover to the LORD your God, for in the month of Abib the LORD your God brought you out of Egypt by night. 2  Therefore you shall sacrifice the Passover to the LORD your God, from the flock and the herd, in the place where the LORD will choose to put his name. 3  You shall not eat leavened bread with it; seven days you shall eat unleavened bread with it, that is, the bread of affliction (for you came out of the land of Egypt in haste), that you may remember the day when you came out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life. 4  And no yeast shall be seen among you in all your territory for seven days, nor shall any of the meat which you sacrifice on the evening of the first day remain all night until the morning. 5  You shall not sacrifice the Passover within any of your towns which the LORD your God gives you; 6  but at the place where the LORD your God will choose to make his name, there you shall sacrifice the Passover in the evening, at the setting of the sun, at the time you came out of Egypt. 7  And you shall roast and eat it in the place which the LORD your God will choose, and in the morning you shall turn and go to your tents. 8  For six days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a solemn assembly to the LORD your God. You shall do no work on it.”

“21  And the king commanded all the people, saying, “Keep the Passover to the LORD your God, as it is written in this Book of the Covenant.” 22  Surely there was not kept such a Passover from the days of the judges who judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel and the kings of Judah. 23  But in year eighteen of King Josiah this Passover was kept to the LORD in Jerusalem.”

“19  And the returned exiles kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month. 20  For the priests and the Levites had purified themselves together; all of them were clean. And they slaughtered the Passover lambs for all the returned exiles, and their brethren the priests, and themselves. 21  And the children of Israel who had returned from the captivity, and everyone who separated themselves from the filthiness of the nations of the land to seek the LORD God of Israel, ate the Passover together.”

His present provision of food (cf. Exodus 34:22; Deut. 16:9-12)

22  And you shall observe the Feast of Weeks for yourself, the first-fruits of the wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering at the year’s end.”

“9  You shall count seven weeks for yourself; begin to count the seven weeks from the time you begin to put the sickle to the standing grain. 10  And you shall keep the Feast of Weeks to the LORD your God with the tribute of a freewill offering from your hand, which you shall give as the LORD your God blesses you. 11  And you shall rejoice before the LORD your God, you and your son and your daughter, and your male servant and your female servant, and the Levite who is within your towns, and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow who are among you, at the place where the LORD your God will choose to make his name there. 12  And you shall remember that you have been a slave in Egypt, and you shall be careful and obey these statutes.”

His future salvation and restoration of the nation (cf. Deut. 16:13-15; Zech 14:16-19)

“13  You shall observe the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days when you gathered grain from your threshing floor and your wine. 14  And you shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter, and your male servant and your female servant and the Levite, and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow, who is within your towns. 15  You shall keep a feast for seven days to the LORD your God in the place which the LORD will choose, because the LORD your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, therefore you will surely be joyful.”

“16 ¶  And it will come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem even will go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. 17  And it will be whoever does not come up of the families of the earth to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even there will be no rain on them. 18  And if the family of Egypt does not go up and come in, that they have no rain; they will have the plague with which the LORD will strike the nations who do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. 19  This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.”

“In celebrating the salvation of the Lord, the Israelites arranged their entire lives around their worship of God, recognizing their dependence on His grace.  Nahum exhorted Israel to commit themselves to this way of living because God’s salvation was so sure.”

Now as I read this last paragraph I have to believe that believers in the Church era should be doing the very same thing and not, like in our day think more about “stuff.”

My Steps of Faith for Today:  I think that this highlighted portion above is a good step of faith for me today.

Spiritual Meaning for My life Today:  Think more about serving the Lord in a way that will please Him and bring glory to Him.

“Do you love life?  Then do not squander Time, For that’s the stuff life is made of.” (Benjamin Franklin)

“So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. (Psalm 90:12)

This is from Dr. David Jeremiah’s Words of Wisdom that I have forgotten to add for a couple of days, but this one certainly goes along with what this SD is about.
