PT-4 "The Character of God" (2 Peter. 3:9)

EVENING SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 1/19/2026 8:25 PM

My Worship Time                                                                 Focus: PT-4 “The Character of God”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                                      Reference:  2 Peter 3:9

Message of the verse:  “9 ¶  The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”

This evening I want to finish this section, and I begin to quote from John MacArthur’s commentary:  “Scripture clearly states that God thoroughly hates sin (Deut. 25:16; 1 Kings 14:22; Ps. 5:4-6; 45:7; Prov. 6:16-19; 15:9; Hab. 1:13) and therefore its potential consequences for every person, including eternal punishment in hell.”

(Deut. 25:16; 1 Kings 14:22; Ps. 5:4-6; 45:7; Prov. 6:16-19; 15:9; Hab. 1:13)

“16  For all who do such things, all who act dishonestly, are an abomination to the LORD your God.”

“22  And Judah did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins that they committed, more than all that their fathers had done.”

“4  For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you. 5  The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers. 6  You destroy those who speak lies; the LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.”

“7  you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions;”

“16  There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him: 17  haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18  a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, 19  a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.”

“13  You who are of purer eyes than to see evil and cannot look at wrong, why do you idly look at traitors and remain silent when the wicked swallows up the man more righteous than he?”

“God chose to save some and not to save others.  As the apostle Paul explained:

“16  So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. 17  For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” 18  So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.”

“The context indicates that any and all are limited to the elect—namely all those whom the Lord has chosen and will call to Himself.  Put  another way, Christ will not come back until every person whom God has chosen is saved.  By using the term you (a reference to Peter’s believing readers), the apostle limits any and all to the realm of elect human beings.

“Of course, once all of the elect are accounted for, God’s patience will run out.  Having given the world as much time as He has sovereignly determined, God will pour out His wrat upon the earth.  While His patience currently holds back His judgment, the time of grace that mankind now enjoys. However long it seems by human standards, will not last forever (cf.  Gen. 6:3).”

(cf. Gen. 6:3)

“3 ¶  Then the LORD said, "My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.’”

I think that a little information about this verse is needed, and as some people think, and they are wrong, God was talking about the time period that it would take for Noah to finish building the ark, for it took him 120 years to do that and then the flood came and all but eight humans were drowned, and then after the flood mankind would not live as long as there was a vapor barrier above the earth which stopped the suns rays from harming the people on the earth, and there was water that came up from the ground to water the earth, and that too came all up when the Noach flood happened.  The earth was then put on its axis which cause the poles of the earth to instantly freeze and so as we now see the earth that is how it is after the flood.

There is another time coming at the end of the Church age when the Rapture will take place and all of the true members of Christ’s Church will be taken up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, the dead first and then those who are alive next.  That ends the Church age as all true born-again members of the true Church will then go into heaven, and seven earth years later we will return to earth on horses with the Lord.  Shortly after that event the Millennial Kingdom will begin, and those who have come back with the Lord will help Him rule the people on planet earth for 1000 years.  I have to say that I am looking forward to that, all of that.
